Innovative Aquarius New Moon Reading for January 27th, 2017

The New Moon today arrives in the sign of Aquarius. This is the sign of innovation, originality, larger perspective, and revolution. If you want to shake things up in your life, this is the perfect New Moon to energize your intentions to make your own rules, take a risk, and be your true, unique, unconventional self. Open yourself up during this New Moon to receive completely new, unlooked for, and unprecedented ideas. You may be shocked and wonderfully surprised to have a breakthrough in understanding about your life purpose and what you want to do with that purpose. You have an increased capacity to learn and discovery new things with Aquarius now.

You are still only human though and have some limitations. Remember to set your priorities and not over schedule and exhaust yourself in the next two weeks of the waxing Moon. Pick the idea, project, or inspiration that you are most drawn to now and zero in your focus on huge progress instead of spreading yourself too thin over a ton of great ideas. You’ll have lots of other New Moons this year to work with so pick the intentions that will best be realized with the helpful energy of Aquarius! Here is some pertinent advice from the tarot on how to work with this gorgeous and bright Aquarius New Moon energy:

The Linestrider Tarot: Queen of Wands, II of Pentacles reversed, IX of Swords reversed

How can I best be my unique, unconventional self? Queen of Wands
Oh yes! The Queen of Wands is a shining example of how to be authentic to yourself. As with all the Queens, she is deeply and maturely connected to her inner, emotional world. She understands herself, accepts herself, and wants to share that self-confident vibe with those around her. The Queens all have the capacity and the propensity to nurture and support. Right now there is a vibrant energy not only to be your own, unique self, but to lift others up to shine brighter as their true, magical selves.

The gift of the suit of Wands is just that- magical. Wands is fire energy, the shine from deep within that lights up our lives and helps us light up the lives of those around us. The Queen of Wands asks you to get in touch with what lights you up inside. What is your divine spark? What is your inspiration you want to develop and share? What is your creation power? The Queen of Wands can be viewed as The Magician at work in this world, manifesting her ideas into reality. When you connect to what makes you special, different, unique, wild and free, you channel that ability to make your life and yourself into whatever you desire. You are not limited by societal values or regulations, you are encouraged and empowered to be whatever it is that you were born to be. Let the Queen of Wands be your guide in saying YES! to your soul purpose and your Higher Self.

What area of my life needs the most focused r/evolution right now? II of Pentacles rx
The II of Pentacles is all about multi-tasking, getting things done, taking on the world and it’s mountain of obligations and kicking ass. Yet, with this reversal we are being asked to narrow it down, to focus on one task at a time, to say no to that which we aren’t drawn to do. The world can ask us to do a hell of a lot. In fact, it can be an overwhelming and impossible amount that society demands of us. We are supposed to work and have a career, develop ourselves and have hobbies, be healthy, active, eat well, support our friends and family, buy everything that is made, have more fun than our neighbors, and never settle until we have lived our dreams. BLARGH- that is just too much.

Instead of doing, doing, doing, the II of Pentacles rx would like you to take a step back right now with the New Moon. Sit down and focus on just one thing- rest. What does it feel like to be still? Can you stop your thoughts? Can you stop your busy body? What visions emerge when you clear your mind of the day-to-day and allow for a larger perspective on your life. Instead of getting bogged down in the details of what is happening in your life right now, set yourself free into the joy and peace of the moment. Try to frolic and float on the idea that you are alive, you are possibility, you can create. When you are filled with that joy of being you and being able to do so much- then go ahead and ask yourself what you actually want to do with that ability. Dream big! This could be your entire life purpose that you are realizing, so remember that it takes an entire lifetime to fulfill a life purpose. Give it all the time you have.

How can I ground myself when I’m carried away with new ideas?  IX of Swords rx
The IX of Swords are the cyclical thoughts that spiral into negativity and anxiety. We all have them and we all are obliged to deal with them. Part of being human is having a brain that never wants to stop spinning out thoughts and tends to repeat and prioritize thoughts about fear, worry, defeat, and despair. Why it has to be like this, I don’t know. The good news is that we can learn to be aware of our thoughts, even if we can’t control their incessant nagging that we are the worst, and will fail, and are just not worth it. When you are aware that you are thinking bad thoughts about yourself and those around you, you can decide not to listen to those thoughts. They are crazy! They aren’t true! They are you!

The IX of Swords asks us to double down on that awareness and also to let those thoughts go. Try to work past the point of recognizing and dealing with your anxieties and move towards recognizing and dismissing them. Basically, try to spend less time with your thoughts and more time with a clear mind. Perhaps its time to step up your meditation practice and really get comfortable with a state of no thought. I know I am terrible at this, so I will try to start really small: 3 calming breathes or a 5 minute guided meditation or just a moment to put my hands on the ground or a tree and be one with the energy of this world. I am a part of it after all. Keep working to be the master of your thoughts and the effort will get easier. Your thoughts want to keep you from being your authentic self, but you know you don’t want them to succeed. 🙂

Thanks for reading the Aquarius New Moon Reading. I hope you enjoyed it! These monthly ideas and readings are all inspired by Lisa Michaels’ blog, so if you want to get even more into moon cycles, I highly recommend signing up for her newsletters as well. One of my goals for this year to get a little PDF together of all the New Moon tarot spreads I have done over the years so you can have a couple of New Moon inspired tarot spreads at your finger tips any time you want to work with the moon and tarot- two of my favorite energies!

Until next time XOXOXO!

Anxiety and Relief- It’s a Wheel of Fortune We Spin

Too often I feel like there is just too much to get done. This causes me a lot of anxiety!!!!! My head is just buzzing with ideas, projects, goals, desires, and necessities. I need to find time to write that fun blog post before my inspiration gets away. I can’t wait to do tarot readings for my beautiful clients! But if I don’t go the grocery store soon there will be no food in the house besides that jar of pickled jalapenos. Oh, and advancing info for Kristen’s tour was supposed to be done last week and now I’m out of printer ink anyway. Gotta get some exercise in, gotta make a doctor’s appointment, need to get to the post office, gotta walk the dog- wait, I have a dog?!

Guys, Kristen and I adopted a sweet rescue dog named Cosmo TODAY. We have been fostering him for the last week and can’t imagine why anyone would give up this beautiful, sweet, silly fella. He is just a wonderful dog. We almost can’t believe he has found his forever home with us. We are in love! Welcome to the family, Cosmo!

img_2744

“Oh my goodness, is this my new home? Is my name Cosmo now? Oreo was a silly name, I prefer Cosmo and I prefer to live here with my new moms.”

If you haven’t been following along with the blog, let me just fill you in that this dog adoption has been a long time coming. I’ve been talking about it for years and we hoped to get a dog at the beginning of this year finally. Moving to Nashville, tours to Europe, and LIFE got in the way of making this dream a reality. It felt like there were just too many obstacles, too many things to get done, not enough time, not enough money, etc. Besides, wouldn’t a rescue dog destroy the house? I don’t anything about dog training! Would my landlord decide we couldn’t have pets? It was all too much and I would never be ready. There would always be something that came first or got in the way and I would never get it together. Despair!

Don't despair, Deird. The right moment to find me was always now.

“Don’t despair, Deird. The right moment to find me was always now.”

Now, seemingly all of a sudden, and seemingly after years of waiting, I have Cosmo in my life. Just like that, fate has turned around and said, “You are ready. You do have time. You’ll figure out the money. Here is your new puppy.” I’m not going to tell you that the anxiety has melted away, but the uncertainty has, and that is a start. We are on the upswing! The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that our lives go in cycles. Sometimes we feel hopeless and sometimes we are full of hope. In our world of duality, this is the only way we can understand good fortune, by experiencing some bad luck at times.

Why the Wheel of Fortunes spins is fascinating to contemplate but ultimately irrelevant. We can spend our entire lives seeking the meaning of it all, but very few will find enlightenment. The rest of us will have to live with not knowing why things happen. It’s just the way the Universe works. It’s great to be a part of the universal plan: exhilarating, heartwarming, frustrating, agonizing, and everything in between. Whatever the point of it all is, I certainly hope I find out someday. Meanwhile, I try to be grateful. Today it is easier than other days to say exactly what I am grateful for: Cosmo. His soft brown eyes and close snuggles relieve my anxiety just a little at a time, bringing me more fully into the present moment…

"I'm here to snuggle and have a good time."

“I’m here to snuggle and have a good time. Oh, and chew up your sneakers so watch out for that.”

If you are super into dogs like me, you can follow Cosmo on Instagram @cosmorawks!

Greetings from the Mary-el Tarot Deck

For my birthday last week I was gifted the Mary-el Tarot deck by Marie White, published by Schiffer. This deck has been on my wish list for a number of years and I was super excited to receive it from my sister. I was also delighted to see that the deck came in a cute box with a magnetic lid and a companion book. I decided to ask the deck for a message and found it has some pretty deep lessons to teach me. It’s no wonder with this intense deck that big life wisdom is contained for me in the cards. The theme of the deck is described as “the alchemy of the soul; of finding balance, symmetry, mastery of the self, and becoming your own genius.”

Here is what the companion book had to say about the cards I drew from each of the elements from the Minor Arcana and one card from the Major Arcana:

FullSizeRender

The Hierophant: “Babylon is a gateway to the powerful truths that lie inside us and are completely blasphemous to any who believe you need something external for redemption, salvation, happiness, an immortal soul, and life after death. She is a monster to those who fear their own power. She is a devil to those who fear the vision of their true self.” (pg 27) “Here you will dive into the jet black pit of earth, completely separate from God, and face your deepest fears and your shadows… And if successful, you will see it for what it is, embrace it and love it as part of yourself and you will become more whole and powerful and illusions about the earth will begin to melt away.” (pg 28)

Six of Wands: “Slay your dragons, conquer your demons. Be direct and forceful.” (pg 105) “The dragons are whatever opposes you or your situation. Spiritually the dragons are darkness and ignorance within ourselves. Illuminate the darkness with fire.” (pg 104)

Five of Swords: Work through the pain and suffering, illness, depression. Whatever is afflicting you, you must keep going. Question all paranoia. Resolve conflicts and disputes with reason and intelligence.” (pg 99)

Nine of Cups: “Accept who/what/where you are with compassion, love, amazement, and humor.” (pg132) “In our earthly incarnation we live with both black and white in somewhat equal measure and they weave themselves into the checkered ground pattern that we walk upon. No matter where you step, you will surely have some black and some white under your feet.” (pg 130)

Knight of Discs: “Don’t look outside for the answer to the problem, look inside to find peace. You already have everything you are looking for. Look in your own home. Do not have doubt in yourself, you are made for this and already have all the tools. Take the middle path, use just what you need, no more or less.” (pg 162)
WOW, that’s a lot to take in, but my overall impression is one of finding wholeness within myself. I am made up of both light and shadow, happiness and depression, health and illness, loss and gain, suffering and relief. I am part of the black and white duality of existence. When I embrace this, my wholeness, and my connection to both Earth and Spirit, I am in the present and I am me. This isn’t a goal or a static state. Life is a continuously unfolding balance between different states, cycling around and around in never-ending flow. Somedays I will find the force to conquer my demons head on. Somedays I will have the mental fortitude to reason my way through my demons. Somedays I will find joy and wonder in my amazing accomplishments. Somedays I will stride along the middle path between Earth and Spirit with certitude. Every day I will be a conduit for that connection without end.

Tarot Blog Hop: A Tarot Art Project with the Kings

PREVIOUS BLOG | MASTER LIST | NEXT BLOG

Welcome to The Willow Path Tarot! If you are following along on the June Tarot Blog Hop, or are a regular reader of this blog, know that today’s blog is a special entry on a topic that many other tarot bloggers are writing about right now as well. The topic is “a tarot art project for non-artists.” We are all finding inspiration in non-tarot related artwork and then creating a tarot card out of that artwork.

This just happens to be something I do every Wednesday at The Willow Path Tarot! I take photos from my personal Instagram feed, which is about my travels and life outside of tarot, and associate those images to a tarot card. Eventually, I plan to print out all these images and make my own tarot deck from my travels. I’m still in the beginning phases of that process, so today I’d like to share with you how things are going with the Kings in this newly developing tarot deck.

King of Cups Gunnison National Forest Colorado, USA

King of Cups
Gunnison National Forest
Colorado, USA

So, in my travel tarot deck, which I’m tentatively calling The Travel Tarot Deck (ahhh, I know, so original!), the Kings are going to be represented by mountains. I’ve chosen mountains to represent the Kings because I associate mountains with stability, security, maturity, and rulership, all personality traits of the Kings in the tarot deck. I chose this one on the left here to be the King of Cups because of the river in the picture, bringing together the Cups which represent water, and the mountains which represent the Kings. The King of Cups is compassion and welcoming, he goes with the flow, much like a river. He brings comfort and kind words, understanding and mediation. The King of Cups is balanced and generous, bringing peace and harmony with his careful demeanor. This river in Colorado definitely gives me that peaceful feeling of the Cups and the mountains add the dimension of the strength of a King.

Sedona, Arizona, USA

King of Wands                                                     Sedona, Arizona, USA

I’ve chosen this rock formation in Arizona to be the King of Wands. The red color of the rocks makes me think of dry, summer heat and the Fire of the Wands. I associate Wands with summer and this card has a summery feel to me. I think this might be a part of or near the rock formation called Devil’s Bridge, and the King of Wands always seems like a bit of a devil to me. He is charismatic, passionate, and tempting. He has the energy of someone who knows what he wants and knows how he can get it. Even so, he is an honorable person, responsible and hard-working, almost tirelessly so. The King of Wands has a vision and a plan to go along with that vision. This range in Sedona prickles with a brittle heat that causes visions to dance before our eyes. The King of Wands understands the visions seen in the fire and can work with it to greatest effect.

PentaclesKing

King of Pentacles                                                   Colca Canyon                                        Cabanaconde, Peru

This photo on the left is one I’m thinking about using for the King of Pentacles. There is a deep Earth energy to a canyon, and this photo is of Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyon hikes in the world. It was a long way down, requiring a lot of the strength and determination of a King to finish. The King of Pentacles is in it for the long haul in every aspect of his character. He is practical, calculating, and under control. He is disciplined and powerful. This King is also connected to the abundance of the Earth, offering brute strength like these canyon walls, but also fertile abundance much like the oasis at the bottom which has shade, water, and a place to rest after a difficult effort. I’m not entirely sold on the image because it seems a bit dry and I associate Pentacles with winter so I would like to do something more snowy, but… for now it has got me thinking.

KingofSwords

King of Swords                                                              Red Rock Canyon National Park                               Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

This photo I’m thinking of using for the King of Swords, but am also not completely satisfied with it. That’s ok, though since I’m planning on seeing many more mountains before this deck is finished. 🙂 I like this one for now because there is something dark and brooding about it, which reminds me of the King of Swords. He is the King of logic and reasoning. His powerful intellect understands the concepts of truth and justice. Something about that kind of mental prowess is dark to me. There is a tendency towards black and white thinking, when so often the world is made up of shades of grey. The King of Swords excels at interpreting that grey area, defining it and forcing it back to black and white. The light and dark interplay of the mountains in this photograph remind me of that balance the King of Swords achieves.

Okay, that’s my contribution to the June Tarot Blog Hop!  I hope you enjoyed learning about the Kings in my Travel Tarot Deck and come back to the blog often to see the progress I’m making on my Instagram inspired deck. Acting Out Your Inspiration with the II of Wands

The II of Wands is inspiration in action. You have a great idea, now it is time to make some decisions about how to manifest that dream. You can envision it, have a spirit journey, make a vision board, peer into the future and imagine, imagine, imagine. The II of Wands is full of possibility in motion. You are on your way. You are making progress. You are moving forward with your dreams. This is a great sign that you are living your life in alignment with your thoughts and beliefs.

There is much self-discovery to be experienced with the II of Wands. When you peer into your future, you realize how many options you actually have. You can step out of your comfort zone, or every day life, and do something completely different. You can take a risk. Perhaps you want to go down a new career path, move house to a far off location, or take your relationship in a new direction. Your long-term goals start to come into focus with the II of Wands as you internalize all that is possible and make decisions about the path on which you want to step out.

When the II of Wands shows up in a reading it asks you to broaden your view. Perhaps you have been limiting your options by thinking too narrowly. Be confident, positive, and adventurous in your pursuits. If you are looking for a new job, find some new sources of job posting instead of just trolling the same ones over and over again. Just for fun, try looking through the job ads in a city or town you have always dreamed about living in and see if they have any good opportunities for your career there. If you are searching for love, try heading to a new social event or checking out a different dating website instead of scrolling a platform you are familiar with. A barrage of new faces might just spark your interest. The key is to expand your worldview with the II of Wands. Your all-encompassing vision is bound to see something new and exciting. Be excited!

II of Wands reversed:

Wands2WU

II of Wands rx Wild Unknown Tarot

When the II of Wands shows up reversed in your reading, it can indicate a block of vision. You are feeling uninspired or cloudy in your future planning. What do you want to do with your life? What are you goals? What do you even want to accomplish? It’s hard to make decisions and be visionary when you can’t figure out what you are striving for. It’s time to reconnect to your inner fire. You need to get back to the root of what lights you up inside and what you are passionate about. Can you set aside some time for that rekindling, maybe actually making a vision board or journaling about your goals or creating a five year plan?

Of course, sometimes we are not passionate. Sometimes we don’t have huge, life-changing goals in mind. The II of Wands can show up reversed to say that you are stagnant for the moment. Is there anything wrong with that? People are always changing and evolving, so it’s very seldom that we are on the level. Can you enjoy a break in the action? It could be that everything is just bumping along great for you at the moment and there is not need for a vision board, blah, blah, blah or any big changes in your life. Be grateful and present in the moment. What is wonderful about where you are at right now?

If you are feeling stagnant and can’t get in touch with your inner passion, that’s okay. Don’t push it too hard or you will just get frustrated and angry that your life has no purpose or passion. Sometimes we aren’t passionate! But is there anything that you are even slightly interested in or curious about? Maybe you have been meaning to start adult coloring or explore more of the neighborhoods in your city. Why not pick up some fresh colored pencils or start hitting every coffeeshop in your town to try different brews? Sometimes small acts of curiosity can get your out of a disinterested funk or even lead to big new passion projects. The II of Wands reversed asks you to examine your inspiration and why it is somewhat dormant at the moment. Is that okay for the moment or do you need to kick start it into action with a little exploration?

Falling in Love with the II of Cups

The II of Cups often indicates the beginning of a romance. This card brings up a lot of the feelings and issues that come up at the beginning of a relationship. You’re getting to know each other, feeling a bit dizzy in love, and experiencing that euphoria of being seen and cared about. You’re also making decisions at every second about whether or not you can get along, if you like their personality, if you can relate on important issues. There is a lot at work in a new relationship that brings up the decision making power of the II cards…

The II of Cups is a always a crowd favorite when it shows up in a reading. This is because almost every deck I know of will have a peaceful scene on it, something imbued with love perhaps, or just something serene. I have a lot of pictures to choose from with two vessels, but I think I’m settled on this ice cream shot for a couple of reasons. First of all, ice cream may be physically cold, but there is a warm, fuzzy feeling to going out for ice cream that resonates with the meaning of the II of Cups. Ice cream makes us feel happy, safe, luxurious, and young. The II of Cups mimics that joyful experience of an ice cream date, pointing out the light-hearted, nurturing, lovey feeling of life.

The second reason I choose this image is because this shot is from one of my first dates with Kristen. Going out to ice cream is a great date, especially for a first one. It can be quick and care-free and doesn’t involve alcohol, which can be good for a first date 🙂  The II of Cups often indicates the beginning of a romance and an ice cream date can certainly be romantic. This card brings up a lot of the feelings and issues that come up at the beginning of a relationship. Cups2

The II of Cups is a nurturing card. If it isn’t about a romantic relationship for you, it may be about your friendships or how you interact with your family. You will be able to express or show how deeply you care about your loved ones and be able to receive their love in return. You can get together to enjoy the quiet wonders of life, or make important decisions based out of love and respect. You feel compassionate and caring, working to cooperate and get along swimmingly with those around you. Your ability to compromise and reach decisions that meet the needs of everyone involved is high at this time.

The II of Cups isn’t exclusively about love and romance though. If you are doing a work or career reading, this card is an excellent indicator that a business deal will be clinched, a job interview will be go well, or a healthy partnership can be formed. There is a positivity and inspiration around your work life right now. It may turn out that you make deep friendships at work, or even start a business or job working with people you already love, a spouse or a dear friend. You can find some real community in the work place and achieve big results through collaboration. The positive aspect of this card is also a good indication of financial stability. You are making good decisions for your finances and your work will be lucrative.

II of Cups reversed:

The reversal of the II of Cups indicates an imbalance in a relationship. If it is a romantic relationship, you may feel like you are giving, giving, giving, and receiving very little in return. Conversely, you may find that you do not reciprocate the strong feelings of a partner and are thinking about ending the relationship. Either way, feelings are out of wack in your relationship and you need to take a step back and reevaluate. What is this relationship based on? Is there a deep, abiding love here or just a passing love? Do you want to start making compromises to make this relationship work is it best to move on from this relationship before more feelings are hurt? Every relationship we have is meaningful and teaches us important life lessons, but not every relationship is meant to last a life time.

Of course, this feeling of imbalance, non-reciprocity, inequality, or negativity could apply to any personal relationship. You could be missing a long lost friend, feeling shut out by your child, unappreciated at work, or outcast from your friend group. Perhaps you are feeling overworked or over-relied upon. All your friends or colleagues are dumping their negativity on you and you want to get some independence and some me time to focus on your own peace, growth, and wisdom seeking. When the II of Cups comes up reversed in a reading, take a good look for imbalances or inequalities in your relationships. There are steps you can take to improve those relationships, even if stepping away from them for a time is the best idea right now. You deserve mutual respect and understanding and it’s time to figure out how to get that.

The archetype of the The Emperor represents stability. The Emperor is card IV in the tarot. Numerologically, the number 4 is square and stable, reminiscent of a tall, strong mountain. The Emperor is like a solid, heavy stone firmly grounded in the earth, but rising high enough above it to watch over the land below. When The Emperor appears in a reading, he tells you that now is the time to create and cultivate stability, it will come naturally.

The Emperor comes after the The Empress in the tarot deck. The Empress represents abundance and fertile creation. Following along on the Fool’s Journey, whatever you gave birth to with The Empress energy is ready to grow, develop strong roots, flourish, and stabilize with Emperor energy. This is a natural progression from idea to fruition. Contemplate what it is that you have developed, gestated, or manifested.  The Emperor will see those things take true and stable form. This is the balance of complimentary feminine and masculine energy.

The Emperor                Rider Waite Smith deck

The Emperor is a ruler and therefore deals with developing and attaining new levels of authority. This can show up in many different ways in your life. For example, if you have been working on a business idea, you will truly start to feel like an authority in that field. Or perhaps you are working on personal development, and will find yourself feeling like a ruler of yourself at this time. When thinking about relationships, you may be moving away from an Empress time colored by the beauty and sensual exploration of a new or long-lasting love, while now you will focus more on firm commitment and the power of a steady long-term relationship.

The energy of The Emperor will allow you be highly organized, strategic, and a problem-solver- all qualities of an ideal ruler. This increased level of domination and authority of The Emperor does bring a sense of power and accomplishment, but also one of strong accountability. It can be wonderful to be in charge and do things your own way.  You get to rule your kingdom, make the rules, and not ask for permission for anything.  Enjoy this power, even as you remember that with great power comes great responsibility (or so I heard in Spiderman ;)).

The Emperor gets to rule the empire, but he does it with the best interests of all his subjects in mind.  Share your wisdom with others, offer guidance, be a grounding force for those around you that need that strong Emperor energy. Note that flexibility is always needed in life, so do not box yourself into a dogged routine.  Regularly check in with yourself and make sure you’re leading in a direction that still corresponds to your overall life goals. You can be a mentor or support system for others now.

The Emperor card is ruled by Aries, which is a cardinal, fire sign. A cardinal sign is a natural leader sign, which is quite obviously represented by The Emperor. Fire signs are born initiators, ready to start new projects, get the ball rolling, and lead the charge. The important thing to remember is follow-through. Aries fire energy can be very good for starting, but not always good for staying the course and finishing. Luckily, the solid and responsible aspects of The Emperor can help you maintain progress and keep up your efforts.  Expect much masculine fire energy now, where you are ready to take charge and establish a structure for all projects or goals you set.  The Emperor is good at decision-making and self-control, which are characteristics that lead to success.

The Emperor reversed:
When The Emperor shows up in reverse in a reading, it’s time to delve into the power structures in your life. Where are you giving away your power? Where are you failing to claim your power? How can you get your power back? Something is blocking you from developing your full strength, and often that block is fear. Fear that you will make the wrong decision, fear that your choices will bring too much responsibility, or fear that you will fail. The Emperor in reverse gives you the advice to examine your fear and decide how to get your power back.

It isn’t easy to accept responsibility and control of life. So often we choose to let matters run their course, leave the ball in someone else’s court, or surrender to the whims of the Universe in defeat or withdrawal. It is hard to know if something is just not meant to be or if we are not working hard enough to claim what we desire. The Emperor reversed asks you to at least check in with yourself and make sure you aren’t giving up the fight because you are scared, or tired, or facing setbacks.

Sometimes life is just full of obstacles and everything sucks. That doesn’t mean you need to give up on your business idea, or your relationship, or whatever is giving you grief these days. It will be worth it to push through. Do something! The Emperor is about action, domination and rulership, remember. She doesn’t take shit or sit on her hands and worry. She knows she has to act now, to make a decision, to use her head and be logical and just.

So gather your scattered thoughts. Put thing in order. Give yourself goals and structure. Ground yourself in the physical world. Imagine you are a mountain in your own life. You are the tallest thing around and you survey your kingdom with a scrutinizing eye. Get aggressive on your fear, confronting it, challenging it, dealing with it, and living with it. With The Emperor reversed you have a clear sign of what you need to do: get grounded and stable, make a plan and a structure, act decisively and rationally, and then claim your power. You can be the ruler of your own life.
