Burst into Action with the New Moon in Aries, April 15th, 2018

The New Moon in Aries today marks the beginning of the zodiac year of moon cycles. This is because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. I believe that each New Moon is an opportunity for new beginnings, but there does feel to be something extra special about the Aries New Moon. Aries is all about action, so now is the time to stop dreaming about your intentions and start to act on them. You can always make a fresh start, but right now the heavens have your back!

Oftentimes, we don’t take action towards our goals because we are fearful of taking that first step, or even the millionth step along our chosen path. This fear stems from leaving our comfort zone and taking risks. All the magic happens outside of our comfort zone, though, so use the Aries New Moon to give you courage to blast through your fear. The compulsiveness of Aries can help you here, as you don’t need to stop to think about or feel your fear, but simply forge ahead with determination and bravery. Remember, this is just a time for starting, just a beginning. You can set big, audacious goals right now to work towards throughout the year or years ahead. The key is just to kick it off with a quick, fun, and self-focused push in the right direction.

Let’s see how the tarot can help us set intentions with the Aries New Moon for the cycle ahead:

The Wild Unknown Tarot: Son of Cups, VIII of Cups, III of Pentacles

In which area of my life should I focus my new beginning on right now? Son of Cups rx
The realm of the emotions could use a little extra special focus this moon cycle. There is a pervasive sense that your emotional patterns are not in alignment with the action steps that you want to be taking. This mismatch is causing you to hesitate, something just doesn’t feel right. There is an attachment to where things are at, to the dreaming and fantasizing stage, and an internal desire to stay where you are comfortable and safe. There is also a strong introversion, wanting to keep your feelings to yourself, and really, your whole self all to yourself. You need to focus on moving towards a new emotional framework for yourself at this time.

Ask yourself: “How can I come out of my shell? How can I reveal myself to other people? How can I allow myself to be vulnerable?” We so highly value and appreciate vulnerability from other people. We think other people are valiant and brave for sharing their failures, doubts, and biggest challenges in life. Then when it comes to being vulnerable and opening up about our own inner demons, we cringe and believe that everyone will think we are hideous and terrible and judge us very harshly. This is the feeling that needs to be overcome! You too will be applauded and appreciated for your ability to be vulnerable. The Son of Cups asks you to reveal yourself, to be vulnerable, and to show your emotions to those around you in all their variations and nuances.

How can I access my courage to push myself out of my comfort zone?- VIII of Cups rx You’ve gotta break old emotional patterns and get out of that comfort zone! The VIII of Cups sees you leaving behind outdated and unneeded emotions that keep you trapped. You can now surrender the past to stay in the past. The first step away from an entrenched emotional pattern is to realize that you do indeed have a pattern that you are stuck in and believe that you can get out of it. You can change the way you feel. There is no law of the Universe that you must have a specific emotional reaction to a specific situation. You can decide to feel differently when the same old things come up.

For example, if you are mired in sadness and despair whenever you think of finding a partner, imagine instead if you felt enthusiastic and inspired to share you life whenever you think about finding a partner. You don’t have to feel sad, even if you have had no luck finding anyone. You don’t have to feel despair, no matter how long it is taking. You can believe that you will find someone. You can to trust that there is a partner out there for you and that you will find that person. The VIII of Cups reversed begs you to allow that things can be different and that you can feel in new ways than what you have been experiencing up until this point. No matter what the situation and how stuck you are in an emotional pattern, you can break free and feel and experience life in a whole new way. It is possible.

How can I express myself in a fun, creative, and fiery way with the Aries New Moon?-
III of Pentacles
The III of Pentacles asks you to work with a group of like-minded people, allowing each person in the group to bring diverse skills and perspectives to the table. Connecting and sharing with others brings you more fully into this world as you show yourself and you in return are seen. It can be best to focus on doing something physical, creating something, or at least sharing a physical space with those you are communicating with. The internet is a wonderful place to meet people, but the III of Pentacles suggests that now is the time to go to a party or a meeting or a class and share a room and breathing air with the people with whom you are talking. Maybe a simple first step is admitting to a friend, relative, or trusted pet, that you are trying to break free of your comfort zone. Every little step counts and just expressing your desire to change and feel/act/be different is a great place to start.

The III of Pentacles denotes learning, so remember that you don’t have to have an epiphany or have it all figured out in order to be making progress. Show up each day with the intention of leaving old emotional patterns behind and developing new patterns. Remember, it took you a very long time, perhaps your entire life, to create the pattern you are in now. It could take you a while now to develop and cultivate your new pattern. You are consciously choosing your emotions now and that will speed up the process for sure, but still, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Be patient as you place each brick to build your new emotional patterns. Being gently with yourself and finding a support system of people who care about you and want to see you succeed, and might even help you build your new patterns, is a wonderful idea. Set an intention at this New Moon in Aries to kick off the zodiac year with trust, belief, and faith in yourself and the Universe that you can change the parts of yourself that are no longer useful and grow new habits that will serve your highest purpose.

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this tarot reading for the New Moon in Aries. I’m going to give this reading a good long think as I go about setting my own intentions for the next lunar cycle. I have emotional patterns of fear of vulnerability, turning in, and hiding in my shell that I am consciously working to reveal and dispel. If you would like to work with me and the energy of the New Moon in Aries, I’m available for email tarot readings at this time!

Being Your Wacky Self with the New Moon in Aquarius, February 15th, 2018

Another Moon cycle comes to a close, while the next begins. Today, the Sun is in Aquarius and so is the New Moon and it’s an eclipsed New Moon so we can expect super, extra Aquarius energy today. I have my natal Moon in Aquarius so I’m pumped about the whole idea of more Aquarius energy in my day. I’m also excited about new beginnings with the New Moon, as I’m signing a lease on a new apartment today. Perfect timing! I can’t make this stuff happen, only magic sums up how this day came to be a lease signing day. This will be the first apartment that Kristen and I will move into without roommates, meaning we get to do the very Aquarius thing of setting our own rules and creating our own systems for our new home. We get to be innovative and our own unconventional selves in our space, something Aquarius revels in and enjoys to the max.

The New Moon in Aquarius brings high level, big picture, cosmic energy. Make it a priority to get present with your overall life vision under this New Moon. Mid-February can be a time when we sort of give up on our New Year’s resolutions and lose sight of what the point is of all the effort we put into setting our goals. Now is the time to realign yourself with that vision of your highest self that you are seeking to embody and ask for Aquarian guidance on how to keep yourself moving towards that ideal. Every little step is important, beautiful, and worthwhile. Keep at it! Here are some questions for you to ask the tarot to help you work with the Aquarius New Moon, followed by a general reading for our collective energy at this time:

Which area of my life needs new ideas and innovation?
How can I best be my unique, unconventional self?
What messages from the tarot will help me expand my life right now?

The Wild Unknown Tarot: Father of Wands, IV of Pentacles reversed, IV of Cups reversed

Which area of my life needs new ideas and innovation?Father of Wands
The Father, or King, of Wands invites you to breathe new, inspired life into your passion projects, your love relationships, your creative pursuits, and everything else that brings Fire energy into your life. This is a mature, responsible, capable energy that has you feeling strong and wise. Sometimes when we feel like we are in control and know what’s going on, we miss out on opportunities to see things in a different light. Look at the lighting bolt in the image above and think of a strike of genius from out of nowhere. You want to be ready to see and experience that lighting bolt. You don’t want to be closed down or shut off from inspiration and brilliant flashes of insight because you think you’ve already got it all figured out. Trust me, no one has it ALL figured out. The Father of Wands asks you to be open and willing to be always learning, always growing, ever on the look out for that next level of understanding. You can be a visionary leader, so let yourself have a vision and take charge of bringing that vision into creation.

How can I best be my unique, unconventional self?IV of Pentacles reversed
You’ve got to let go and allow the Universe to work it’s magic through you! We all have a tendency to cling to our self-defined identities. This is called the ego. We like definitions, putting labels on ourselves and others, believing that something we do or have is who we are, but that is super stifling. It’s also just plain wrong. You’ve got to break that identity box and allow yourself to change, to grow, to expand, to be whatever it is that this moment demands. For example, I used to identify as a cheese person. I made a mean grilled cheese sandwich, worked in cheese shops, and never left home without a block of cheddar. Other people also thought of me and cheese being very much identified in the same sentence. But then I read too much about the dairy industry, health studies, and environmental degradation and decided to stop eating cheese. Was I not myself anymore if cheese eating was such a part of my identity? I know this might seem like a silly example, but there are so many things you are hanging onto that define you that really have nothing to do with your soul essence. The IV of Pentacles reversed asks you to let go of the material things you cling to as who you are, because you are not your stuff, your habits, your job, etc. You are a divine soul having a human experience. Now let that experience be wild and amazing!

What messages will help me expand my life right now?IV of Cups reversed
Here we drew another IV card in the reversed position. The number IV is a highly stable and regular energy, one that adds structure and rigor to your world. With this number in reverse we are reminded how unstable and irregular life actually is. There are very few guarantees or sure things in life, and that can leave you feeling adrift, emotionally drained, or like hiding away. What can you accomplish from this withdrawn state, though? What does pulling yourself back and hiding your light accomplish? What is the point of playing it safe and not taking risks? Are you going to look back and be so happy and proud that you didn’t try to do any of the things you dreamt of and wished you could do? “Thank goodness I didn’t try in life, that might have resulted in too much fun and happiness (and figuring out how to deal with and supersede failure).” I don’t think so! The IV of Cups asks you not to waste your life by denying yourself the opportunities to grow and learn even if they are tricky, difficult, scary, or risky. You need to take risks and you need to be brave, that’s how you expand and that’s how you make your life meaningful.

I hope you enjoyed this little New Moon in Aquarius reading. It’s going to be another glorious Moon cycle, so spend a couple minutes today writing down an intention or two for the month ahead with the guidance of Aquarius. I intend to keep myself open to opportunities for expansion, to take risks in order to grow, and to create a beautiful and brightly airy home in our new apartment 🙂 Until next time…

Creating Structure with the New Moon in Capricorn

Hello, and welcome to the first New Moon tarot reading of 2018. If you haven’t managed to start off the year with that bang! you were planning or imagining, this New Moon is the perfect time to finally set those intentions for the year ahead and get your plan mapped out for how you want to feel and what you want to accomplish this year. It isn’t too late. In fact, now is the time you are best supported in intention setting because the New Moon in Capricorn loves this stuff. You’ve had a chance to rest from the holidays and readjust to the changing of that digit on the calendar, and can look with clarity at the road ahead.

Even if you did manage to make an amazing plan for the year ahead with big and beautiful intentions scheduled out for each and every day, this New Moon in Capricorn still lends you support to reexamine and reassert your commitment to your plan. Capricorn is an Earth sign and therefore aids you in grounding and centering yourself for the time ahead. Look to your health, home, and finances to assess whether or not you feel connected to these areas and have solid intentions and plans for your Earthy sector. How does your body feel? What could improve in your home environment? How are you feeling about your finances? Let Capricorn give you ideas for creating a solid, stable, structured, and disciplined approach to your new year.

Here’s a tarot reading for the Capricorn New Moon!:

The Wild Unknown Tarot: Father of Swords, Father of Cups rx, The Empress rx

How can I commit to and take responsibility for my intentions for the coming Moon cycle and the year ahead?– Father of Wands

The Father of Wands is a King card, it is an energy that readily accepts responsibility, in fact, you were born for it. You were born to excel and to lead. Even if you are only leading your own life you will inevitably end up leading others by this outstanding example. You are fully capable of taking control of your life and making it what you want it to be. You have an inclination and an innate ability to use your creativity, to connect with your light from within, and to shine that light out into the world around you. This personality is one that takes action, follows her spirit, and lives out her destiny without doubt or shame. Capricorn, ruled by the planet/energy of Saturn wants you to connect with what lights you up inside and use that knowledge to plan your year ahead. Remember that you are in charge of your life. You are responsible for yourself and how you decide to deal with your challenges and your good fortunes. The Father of Wands asks you to commit to actions aligned with your soul purpose, to what ignites your passion and inspires you.

What structures do I need to put in place in order to live up to my intentions?– Father of Cups reversed

Another Father/King card, showing the mature and responsible energy of Saturn/Capricorn all around you at this time. This King deals in the realm of emotions, and with the reversal we see an even deeper and more pronounced need to go within yourself and wade through the emotions that are connected to your goals for 2018. How do you want to feel this year? What are the feelings that you want to experience or generate? Will working on and accomplishing your goals garner those feelings? All of your emotions are connected with all of your actions, and the Father of Cups wants to make sure you understand and accept those connections. The easier and more natural it is for you to engender the feelings you want to invoke through your actions, the more flow you will experience in accomplishing your goals for the year. You want to put into a place a structure that weaves your emotions in with your inspiration to create actions that further your progress. Spend a little time today connecting to your emotional realm to get clear on what you want to feel in the year ahead.

How and where can I apply more grounding energy in my life?– The Empress reversed

The Empress is a beautiful Earth energy of abundance and love, with the reversal suggesting an inward bent to this energy. In other words, make sure you are nurturing and loving yourself from the inside all the way to the outside. When we care for, respect, and love ourselves, we set ourselves up to best care for, respect, and love others. Apply grounding Capricorn energy inward to build a firm foundation of self respect and self love. The Empress reversed also warns against overabundance, though, asking you to make sure that you’re not overdoing it. Overindulgence in food, overexertion in exercise, overspending to create comfort, overwork, or even suffocating those around you with over nurturing are all possibilities of going overboard with the abundance of The Empress. Focus most intensely on the values of Empress, rather than the possible rote actions of mothering and creation that she implies.

Be aware that you need your goals to be fulfilling of your life-long values in order to create meaning in your life. For example, a goal like, “Do 100 tarot readings,” does not really fulfill a value. Rather something like, “Develop deeper understanding of humanity, intuition, and how to use the tarot to explore the meaning of life,” might be more useful and satisfying in the long run. You can go out and do 100 tarot readings this year, but the act of doing tarot reading #100 won’t be as soul-fulfilling as the feeling that you have learned so much and understand tarot and people so much more because of your actions. Connecting a core value attached to a core emotion to your actions will make the things you put on your To Do List for 2018 more satisfying and likely to get done this year!

I like how we got all ruler cards (2 Kings and an Empress!) in this reading, which really speaks to the responsible and structured vibe of this Capricorn New Moon. We have such great support for using our mastery of self in order to further our goals, learn, and grow in 2018. Don’t be afraid of using what you already know and love about yourself as a stepping stone to do good work. Yes, there is still tons to learn and you’re probably wrong about most of the things you think you know right now, but that’s how life works! We can’t live in fear of the unknown, of taking risks, of being wrong, or of failure. These things are so necessary and useful. The pain of failure creates meaningful experiences that help us learn way better and faster than if we do nothing at all and let things stay at the status quo until someone or something comes along and makes us change. Wouldn’t you rather be the instigator, living out your own dreams, rather than a bystander who has change forced upon them by outside forces? Take control now with the Capricorn New Moon. Boldly state your intentions and wishes for the month and year ahead without fear or dread of the unknown or failure. Taking responsibility for your life is wonderful!

A beautiful morning last February, 2016 in Ocala Forest in Florida, USA.

Best wishes for your Capricorn New Moon day. I hope you can take the time to connect with the Moon and with the Earth energy of Capricorn today. Spend a few minutes outside in nature to thank our Mother Earth for supporting us in our plans for the year ahead and providing us with a wonderful home in which to learn and grow. If you would like a personalized New Moon reading, I am always available for email readings anytime!  Get in touch, I would love to hear from you.

Expanding with the Sagittarius New Moon, December 18, 2017

It’s a beautiful day for a New Moon! Well, depending on where you are, the New Moon might be on the 17th or 18th. Here in Nashville it’s at 12:30am on the 18th, but I’m just gonna go ahead and post this on the 17th because it’s written! In my opinion, the New Moon window of activating those intentions of yours for the coming month includes the day before, day of, and day after the New Moon. I mean, we can’t always do it all in one day so it’s good to have some leniency in your life, right? Ease into it, let the New Moon energy take you through a couple of days of intentional focus.

This time around we encounter the New Moon’s intention setting energy backed by the expansive vibes of Sagittarius. The Sun is also in Sagittarius right now, as well as the planet Saturn. That’s a lot of Sag energy for us to work with. Let’s all spend the day contemplating our own personal philosophy of the meaning of life. Imagine what you want to do with your life, where you want to go, what you want to learn. Do the values you hold that make up your life philosophy support and align with what actions you are taking in your life? I hope so! If not, it’s a wonderful time to make some changes and get your dreams and your actions on the same page. I asked the tarot for some guidance and advice at this New Moon and here is what I came up!

Linestrider Tarot: The Star reversed, III of Cups, VII of Pentacles

Which area of my life should I focus on now in order to best increase and support expansion? The Star reversed

Ah, The Star, what a beautiful card, what a beautiful energy. It tells us to focus on hope, faith, light, and possibility. The Star is the light at the end of the tunnel when you feel like you’ve been through great difficulty and darkness but finally see a way back to optimism, solutions, positivity, and the belief that there is goodness and light in the Universe. The reversal I see as a need to focus on the internal. This light and hope is something that comes from inside of you. You do not need to look for The Star externally, in the world around you, but rather shine that eternal light from within yourself.

The Star also reminds us to let go of hurt, regret, negativity, grudges, pain, and a way of looking at things that exacerbates damage and burdens. The Law of Attraction advises us to focus on what we want to create more of in our lives. When we obsess about the negative, we inadvertently tell the Universe to bring us more of that since we are so set on dwelling in that energy. When we focus on all the positive and wonderful things about ourselves and who we are and the light we bring, we get into a place of gratitude that allows us to bring more and more of those blessings into the world with the backing of the Universe.

Bottom line: Focus on the bright light shining within you, full of hope and inspiration, and that will be the beauty that you grow and expand in this Moon cycle.

Where am I cutting off expansion because of limiting thoughts about what is possible?    III of Cups

This III of Cups reminds me of an area of my life where I feel like possibilities are a bit stagnant- friendships and emotional connections with people. Perhaps you can relate to feeling like it new friendships don’t come easily. I moved to Nashville two years ago and I still haven’t really made any friends, no one I call to meet for coffee or share long conversations with about the things that really matter to me. I listen to ideas about how it is difficult to make friends as an adult, as if easy and natural friendships are the domain of youth alone. That seems super limiting to me, don’t you think? I don’t see any reason to hold that as my truth. That mindset certainly does serve me anything good. Perhaps during this moon cycle, you too can focus on and expand the friendships zone of your life. Use the Star as a talisman or focal point for that positivity. You can shine, just as you are, attracting friends, deepening connections and and  the life you want to live.

What is the meaning of my life?VII of Pentacles

So what does life mean? I’m not sure that’s the most fair question to ask a tarot deck and I certainly wouldn’t choose the VII of Pentacles as the meaning of life. It doesn’t yell a definitive answer or tell me very much at all right at first glance. Life is about growth and reflection. Life is about wondering and trying and thinking about it again and then trying some more. It’s about putting in a long-term, intense effort and never really knowing if all that trying was really the “right thing” to do.

I do like the idea of Pentacles being involved in the meaning of life, because I think the body and the Earth are very important; they are integral to why we are here. I believe our souls chose our bodies and chose to be on Earth at this historical moment. There are other worlds and other forms of being, but I chose to be here now in this body and time. The lessons of this life are the ones I am meant to learn. There is no struggle in that. There is no wondering why. There is just surrender and acceptance in the knowledge that “good” or “bad” experiences, this life is why I am here. The VII of Pentacles is all about the long haul, pacing yourself, and allowing things to develop as you go. Plant the seeds you want to see sown and you’ll be in a much better place than trying to grow something but planting nothing at all.

Bottom line: Build a big beautiful nest of your life to show your abundance, gratitude, and your positive mindset even if you don’t know why you’re doing it.

You can use your cards to ask the same questions  as a tarot spread or I’m happy to do a personalized reading just for you 🙂  As you can see above, I decided to ask what the meaning of my life is today! This is not something I’ve asked the tarot before and I thought- why not?!  Have you ever asked the tarot what the meaning of life is? Did you get a good response? Lots of love and light to you at this dark period of the Moon. Go set those intentions to make it an awesome month ahead  😉

Find Love Through Balance with the New Moon in Libra, October 19th, 2017

It’s that magical time of month again- New Moon time! The New Moon, this month in the sign of Libra, is a wonderful time for setting intentions on what you want to grow, create, accomplish, or manifest in the coming four weeks. It can be helpful to develop those intentions with the energy of the Moon’s current sign. So in what areas of life does Libra help support us this month? I chose three Libra strengths to set intentions around: love and all relationships, finding balance, and being diplomatic and fair. Then I asked the tarot to give us some advice around these Libra themes to help us in our intention setting time.

Give the below tarot advice a read through and then take a moment to sit back and come up with your intentions for the month. Try to pick just a few intentions in order to put maximum manifestation power behind those intentions. The more honed in and focused your are on your intention, the better your results will be.

Rider Waite Smith tarot deck: Death reversed, The World reversed, The Fool reversed

What will help you appreciate and improve your relationships and be loyal, supportive, and committed to the people you love?- Death reversed
You have to let go of the past in order to make room in your heart for what you truly want out of your relationships. So often we repeat relationships patterns over and over again. We choose variations of lovers and friends who we haven’t had successful or positive relationships with and we repeat those relationship patterns with each new partner. This obviously leads to similar results and outcomes with new relationships. You’ve got to let this go! Let the past go! Try something completely different and see how getting out of your comfort zone can be scary but oh, so rewarding. Don’t be afraid of change. Instead, embrace change as your ultimate best source of happiness and fulfillment. Change is how we grow, develop, and reach that next level. Let this New Moon signal a transition away from unhealthy past relationships (and this includes your relationship with yourself), towards more fulfilling and positive relationships in your present.

Intention: I set the intention to clear away past relationships that I cling to out of fear of change. I am open to change, releasing my comfort zone in order to find loving and fulfilling relationships.

How and when can you be more diplomatic and fair-minded?The World reversed
Carrying on with the theme of letting go, closure, and moving on, The World invites us to use this New Moon to find internal completion. Now we must go through the process of ending or finishing a phase of life. This process can’t be rushed. There are no short cuts here. We must go through all the effort, mess, and unease of figuring out what happened, how we feel about it, what it might have meant, and then putting it behind us. This is tough work, but it is so necessary. What is blocking you or holding you back from closure? Hash out what feels unfair or unjust. Speak your truth, even if it is just to yourself, because you need to do this for yourself above all others. There may be no way to achieve a feeling of fairness and even the score, but that’s not the point. The point is to reach a place of peace in your heart. The world is an unfair place, there’s no rule or reason to much of what happens in our lives, but there is a chance for acceptance and space to move on.

Intention: I set the intention to learn from my past, accept my present moment, and allow for hope and change in the future. Unfair or unjust things may happen in my life, and even though I do no know what the reason or lesson is of those events, that do no define me.

What area of your life needs attention in order to foster balance and harmony in your life?- The Fool reversed
Being dedicated to closure and letting go of the past is your wonderful strength right now, yet there is a still a need to balance out all the ending energy with a hope and faith for a new beginning. You do not have to focus solely on the past. There is still room for positivity and optimism about the next big thing coming your way. Foster a sense of possibility and openness to what the Universe has to offer you as you deal with your past. Ready yourself for a risk, for a leap of faith into a bright new future. Trust that you will succeed. Act as if there is no such thing as failure and believe in yourself 100%. You are not quite ready to take that leap as you shake old patterns and transition into a new mindset, but a big part of creating that new mindset is a bright belief that a new day is upon you and anything is possible. Hold that candle of hope and joy inside of you. Bring balance to your life by admiring and tending to that new light, even as you extinguish the last flames of an older light. This transition time is beautiful, miserable, necessary, and wonderful.

Intention: I set the intention to balance my energy between clearing away what no longer serves me from the past and opening up to what is possible in my present moment. I ready myself for a leap of faith into a bright future.

Happy New Moon in Libra!

A Bright Dark Moon Today in Leo, July 23, 2017

We have a beautiful New Moon today in the sign of Leo today! It’s time for us to shine out our deepest fire light into the dark moon night. Here is your tarot reading to help you set your intentions and focus your desires for the moonth ahead 🙂

The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck: Father of Wands, Judgement, V of Pentacles

How can I have more fun and games in my life?- Father of Wands

The Father of Wands is Leo fire energy through and through. He is definitely not afraid to have fun, yet has more ingrained limits and boundaries for that fun than, say, the Knight of Wands. The Father of Wands loves leadership and challenges, so his idea of fun and games might be a bit more productive and results-oriented than frivolous and just passing the time. Think more along the lines of summiting a mountain, playing competitive sports, rock climbing or other outdoor adventures, rather than a peaceful nature walk or sitting in the forrest. He would rather swim across a lake or river than lay out and tan. He likes a rousing game of bar trivia rather than just pints and gossip.

The Father of Wands exudes positivity. He loves to shine, be out in the sun, and be social. He also envisions big dreams so there is a tendency to make things larger than life. This guy loves to seize the day, so carpe diem away this month. Plan activities that spark your creativity and make your feel alive. The Father of Wands is a great sign for fun times ahead this month, just make sure you plans things that have a bit of direction or purpose. Fun simply for the sake of fun may allude you with this bold, driven energy in charge.

How can experience my radiance and increase my self-confidence?- Judgement

Ah, Judgement, a weighty concept and card. Self-judging is the thing that stands in between most of us and our radiance. We judge ourselves against others, against societal expectations, and against our own high standards. And we always come up short somehow, decreasing our self-confidence and adding a bit more misery into our lives and into the world.

It doesn’t have to be like that, though. We could stop setting unobtainable goals forced on us by the media and marketing that exists solely to sell more products and not make our lives better as advertised. We could stop comparing ourselves to our neighbors and trying to keep up with the Joneses. We could sit down and listen for our inner calling, for what we actually want and need, and decide what is right on an individual basis. It seems obvious that what causes you to be radiant and self-confident might be different that what works for your best friend. Yet it’s so easy to forget.

Now is the time to remember that you are a unique snowflake. Start treating yourself as a whole person in this moment instead of a constant work in progress that needs to be judged, weighed, measured, and added up. You are complete right now. You do not have to wait for a future you that has done this or that in order to be radiant and confident now. This Judgement card signifies acceptance and surrender to who you inherently are.

What am I passionate about and should pursue?- V of Pentacles

The number V cards in the tarot Minor Arcana point towards strife and challenge. It is a turning point, a transition from the building energy of Ace to IV and the closing energy of VI to IX. You may find yourself at a point when you are not entirely sure what you are passionate about pursuing. You thought you were headed in one direction but now that you have gotten this far you’re questioning if you really want to go through with it. The issue resides with the relationship between material wealth and spiritual wealth. What are you doing that is good for your wallet versus what are you doing that is good for your soul. And which one is more important? Can you find balance?

The best thing you can do to figure this out is to spend time on it. Use the energy from Judgement to listen for your inner calling, the right direction for you, the path you want to pursue. Let the struggle happen, don’t avoid it. We like to shy away from sadness, isolation, illness, loss, and hurt- who want to stay in pain? The thing is that the pain won’t go away unless you deal with the things that are causing it. Use the bright, happy energy of Leo to shine some light into your dark places and offer healing to those pains you have been or want to avoid. A glass half full attitude can go a long way towards helping your find a solution at this time.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this New Moon in Leo tarot reading. Guess what? We have another New Moon in Leo coming up on August 21st! AND a total solar eclipse which will be fully visible from my home in Nashville, TN. Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies everybody! I can’t wait!

Gemini New Moon Tarot Reading, May 25th, 2017

This New Moon in Gemini, while the Sun is also cruising through the sector of Gemini in the sky, is a great time of month to lighten up with Air energy. Gemini loves a good laugh, seeing the comical side of life, and breezing through tough situations with flow and inspired solutions. Gemini energy sparks creative thoughts. You may find yourself wanting to learn and experience new things. Gemini also influences communication and technology so this is a great time of the year to brainstorm about your goals in these areas. How and what do you want to share with your community and social network? What is your relationship to technology and do you need to change or improve it in some way? Spend some time out in the fresh air while the New Moon is in Gemini, and all month long under the Gemini Sun, in order to infuse yourself with spring breezes and the winds of change.

Here is what the tarot would like to share with us at this New Moon intention setting time:

Linestrider Tarot: 7 of Wands reversed, 10 of Wands reversed, 9 of Cups reversed

What are you ready to learn, experience, and create this moon cycle?-
VII of Wands reversed
You are ready learn how to put your internal battles to rest. There are a million different interests, passions, ideas, and priorities constantly struggling for top spot in your consciousness. It quite simply can’t all get done and that’s okay. It shouldn’t make you feel bad about yourself or guilty for not doing it all. Who are you competing against for the most things done in a life anyway? How can you count that? How do you decide whether or not something was even worthwhile? Maybe the point of life isn’t how much you get done, but how present you are when you’re doing whatever it is that you get done. There is no way of knowing the point of life, so you might as well stress less and stop competing against others and especially yourself in the Cult of Busy, Busy, Busy Makes Me Important. Create more space with this Gemini New Moon. Create more Air, create more fun, create more ease, create more laughter. What feels better at the end of the day: an exhausted mind with a massive To Do list all crossed off, or a belly laugh on the back porch sharing beverages with friends? It’s time to redefine your idea of “winning”.

How can you more effectively communicate, network, and share your ideas?-
Ten of Wands reversed
It’s really is time to narrow your focus and stop trying to do too many things at once. This is an echo of the card before, huh? Well, it’s no secret that we’re all trying to do too much and it’s making us wicked tired and grumpy. Gemini brings up this energy since no one loves getting work done and also having all the fun more than The Twins. It’s pretty frenetic energy! But it’s unsustainable and harmful to your inner calm and sense of spiritual well-being. If the point is to get everything done that we want to do, that list will never end and we’ll never reach our goal. How could you possibly do everything that you set out to do with your life? When have you ever reached a goal and not set another goal farther out? It’s human nature, but it’s not particularly joyful. If your goals are: to have a million Instagram, Twitter, and FB followers, to have great friends, family, and community you do meaningful and fun things with all the time, and to write a book, blog, album, TED talk, etc., ummmm… that’s too much. Chill out! Narrow your focus, set limits, honor your boundaries, and make sure you are present.

How can you foster a positive relationship and productive with technology?-
Nine of Cups reversed
It’s important to realize that technology cannot solve all your problems. It cannot be perfect. It cannot be infallible. It cannot wave a magic wand and do everything for you. Of course, all these realizations may be why people can get so disenchanted with technology. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you read my rant about how Instagram is no longer instant and so- grrrrrrrrrr! I guess the way to a positive relationship with technology is to not get emotional about it, since it certainly isn’t going to get emotional about you. Why not channel that Air energy of Gemini and treat technology with a rational and logical approach. What is the point of Instagram?- to make it’s owners money. There’s an internal wish that technology should fulfill your desires, but it is something created by someone else who ultimately wants to fill their own desires first. Now, who deserves to have their desires fulfilled? Why should it be you?

Anywho, those are my musings from the tarot for the Gemini New Moon. I hope you enjoyed them and don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter so you will always have these fun readings in your inbox every 4 weeks. Woohoo!
