Aries New Moon Tarot Reading, March 27th, 2017

The New Moon in Aries brings with it a sense of renewal and beginning. Spring is in the air! This is astrologically the first New Moon of the year and therefore carries a drive for action and change, fresh starts and growth. There is movement, dance, play, and creativity associated with Aries and the New Moon will crank up the emotional satisfaction achieved from DOING. This is a wonderful time to get things done, to make an action plan and then start ticking things off immediately. You might even put some things on your to do list that you’ve already done just so you can start crossing things off the list right away!

We’re working with Fire energy here so just a quick reminder that too much doing can cause burnout. Direct your resources wisely so that you’re focusing on what you actually want/need to get done instead of doing simply everything you are capable of doing. You’re capable of a lot right now, but even so there are limitations. When you’re feeling drained spend a little quiet time just contemplating fire. Build a beautiful bonfire to stare into if you can, but a simple candle will also do the trick. Breathe in creativity and motivation and then go getter dun.

Here’s some advice from the tarot on narrowing your focus, balancing out chaos, and having fun with the Aries New Moon:

The Wild Unknown Tarot: VII of Pentacles, II of Swords reversed, IV of Wands

What area(s) of your life requires immediate attention and action? VII of Pentacles
The Aries New Moon wants to bring fresh energy and point out unrealized potential in a goal or project that you have already started. In other words, this isn’t the time to develop a totally new focus or goal, but rather a time to break free of reflection and evaluation mode on a current project. You’ve made progress and achieved a certain level of success or completion, but right now you are a bit stalled. You’re looking over and contemplating and reviewing what has already happened. That’s all well and good, nice to know where you stand and how far you’ve come, but you’ve gotta break out of that now and keep going forward with your plan. Figure out where you have momentarily stagnated on a major goal and resolve to kick yourself back into action mode to take the goal all the way to completion.

Here are some ideas of goals you might have set and possible next steps:  If you are in school or studying, now is the time to start defining your thesis or final project. If you’re building a career, now is the time to look for that step up the career ladder. If you’re trying to grow your investments, now is the time to make a 5 year plan for your financial health. If you’re in a committed relationship, now is the time to ask yourself if you see a future with this partner. If you’re on a diet and fitness regime, now is the time to break out of a success plateau and reach for a new level of health. If you’re looking for love, you may have now developed the type of self love that will attract a partner. If you’re on a spiritual journey, it’s time to start upleveling closer to enlightenment. Wherever you feel like you’ve achieved a certain level of success, it’s time to ratchet it up to the next level.

Where or how are you creating chaos in life? II of Swords reversed
The thing that stops many of us on our quest for that next level or success is refusal or failure to make tough decisions. They decisions often involve us stepping out of our comfort zones, confronting uncomfortable or unimaginable situations, and going forward against fear. Our brains think up all kinds of things for us to be afraid of and our hearts quail at the thought of all that pain that will be caused by our deepest fears. Chaos can enter the situation in the form of information overload, overactive imagination, too many choices, multiple conflicting points of view, and nightmares blown out of proportion. The II of Swords reversed advises us that chaos enters our lives when we have tough decisions to make, but it can also be resolved and dissipate when we make a choice and commit to it. When we give a big middle finger to fear and do what we want in our hearts and minds, we effectively cut chaos in two, cripple it, stop it from ruling our lives. Now, more than ever, you need to make the choice to act and reach for your goals no matter how difficult or frightening it might seem.

How can you have more fun!?  IV of Wands
There is super charged potential for fun times this coming month. The IV of Wands is the ultimate card of celebration and hopefully we will all be celebrating because we have taken our goals to the next level and manifested our dreams into reality. The Wands represent Fire energy, just like this Aries New Moon, so we are all set to feel full of light. What lights you up? What fills you with creative vibes? What milestones do you want to reach? Doing or working towards what lights you up inside is a surefire way to have a good time.

The IV of Wands also advises that we will have fun when we spend time with community, family, and friends. Look at the calendar to see what special events are coming up in the next four weeks and make a point of joining in those celebrations. This is a great time to celebrate birthdays, engagements, marriages, births, graduation ceremonies, spring, Easter, etc. Any reason that you and your people have a reason to get together and celebrate is the perfect way to fill yourself up with happiness and light. Say yes to social invitations that honor milestones and accomplishments. When you participate in buoying up and acknowledging the people you love, you lift up everyone on this planet.

Have a wonderful and light-filled Dark Moon in Aries this fine Monday. I encourage you to engage responsible with fire, to have fun with your tribe, and to connect with your tarot deck using these prompts that I employed in this reading. I’m always available for personal email readings as well if you are moved to work with me. Happy Aries New Moon!

Innovative Aquarius New Moon Reading for January 27th, 2017

The New Moon today arrives in the sign of Aquarius. This is the sign of innovation, originality, larger perspective, and revolution. If you want to shake things up in your life, this is the perfect New Moon to energize your intentions to make your own rules, take a risk, and be your true, unique, unconventional self. Open yourself up during this New Moon to receive completely new, unlooked for, and unprecedented ideas. You may be shocked and wonderfully surprised to have a breakthrough in understanding about your life purpose and what you want to do with that purpose. You have an increased capacity to learn and discovery new things with Aquarius now.

You are still only human though and have some limitations. Remember to set your priorities and not over schedule and exhaust yourself in the next two weeks of the waxing Moon. Pick the idea, project, or inspiration that you are most drawn to now and zero in your focus on huge progress instead of spreading yourself too thin over a ton of great ideas. You’ll have lots of other New Moons this year to work with so pick the intentions that will best be realized with the helpful energy of Aquarius! Here is some pertinent advice from the tarot on how to work with this gorgeous and bright Aquarius New Moon energy:

fullsizerender

The Linestrider Tarot: Queen of Wands, II of Pentacles reversed, IX of Swords reversed

How can I best be my unique, unconventional self? Queen of Wands
Oh yes! The Queen of Wands is a shining example of how to be authentic to yourself. As with all the Queens, she is deeply and maturely connected to her inner, emotional world. She understands herself, accepts herself, and wants to share that self-confident vibe with those around her. The Queens all have the capacity and the propensity to nurture and support. Right now there is a vibrant energy not only to be your own, unique self, but to lift others up to shine brighter as their true, magical selves.

The gift of the suit of Wands is just that- magical. Wands is fire energy, the shine from deep within that lights up our lives and helps us light up the lives of those around us. The Queen of Wands asks you to get in touch with what lights you up inside. What is your divine spark? What is your inspiration you want to develop and share? What is your creation power? The Queen of Wands can be viewed as The Magician at work in this world, manifesting her ideas into reality. When you connect to what makes you special, different, unique, wild and free, you channel that ability to make your life and yourself into whatever you desire. You are not limited by societal values or regulations, you are encouraged and empowered to be whatever it is that you were born to be. Let the Queen of Wands be your guide in saying YES! to your soul purpose and your Higher Self.

What area of my life needs the most focused r/evolution right now? II of Pentacles rx
The II of Pentacles is all about multi-tasking, getting things done, taking on the world and it’s mountain of obligations and kicking ass. Yet, with this reversal we are being asked to narrow it down, to focus on one task at a time, to say no to that which we aren’t drawn to do. The world can ask us to do a hell of a lot. In fact, it can be an overwhelming and impossible amount that society demands of us. We are supposed to work and have a career, develop ourselves and have hobbies, be healthy, active, eat well, support our friends and family, buy everything that is made, have more fun than our neighbors, and never settle until we have lived our dreams. BLARGH- that is just too much.

Instead of doing, doing, doing, the II of Pentacles rx would like you to take a step back right now with the New Moon. Sit down and focus on just one thing- rest. What does it feel like to be still? Can you stop your thoughts? Can you stop your busy body? What visions emerge when you clear your mind of the day-to-day and allow for a larger perspective on your life. Instead of getting bogged down in the details of what is happening in your life right now, set yourself free into the joy and peace of the moment. Try to frolic and float on the idea that you are alive, you are possibility, you can create. When you are filled with that joy of being you and being able to do so much- then go ahead and ask yourself what you actually want to do with that ability. Dream big! This could be your entire life purpose that you are realizing, so remember that it takes an entire lifetime to fulfill a life purpose. Give it all the time you have.

How can I ground myself when I’m carried away with new ideas?  IX of Swords rx
The IX of Swords are the cyclical thoughts that spiral into negativity and anxiety. We all have them and we all are obliged to deal with them. Part of being human is having a brain that never wants to stop spinning out thoughts and tends to repeat and prioritize thoughts about fear, worry, defeat, and despair. Why it has to be like this, I don’t know. The good news is that we can learn to be aware of our thoughts, even if we can’t control their incessant nagging that we are the worst, and will fail, and are just not worth it. When you are aware that you are thinking bad thoughts about yourself and those around you, you can decide not to listen to those thoughts. They are crazy! They aren’t true! They are you!

The IX of Swords asks us to double down on that awareness and also to let those thoughts go. Try to work past the point of recognizing and dealing with your anxieties and move towards recognizing and dismissing them. Basically, try to spend less time with your thoughts and more time with a clear mind. Perhaps its time to step up your meditation practice and really get comfortable with a state of no thought. I know I am terrible at this, so I will try to start really small: 3 calming breathes or a 5 minute guided meditation or just a moment to put my hands on the ground or a tree and be one with the energy of this world. I am a part of it after all. Keep working to be the master of your thoughts and the effort will get easier. Your thoughts want to keep you from being your authentic self, but you know you don’t want them to succeed. 🙂

Thanks for reading the Aquarius New Moon Reading. I hope you enjoyed it! These monthly ideas and readings are all inspired by Lisa Michaels’ blog, so if you want to get even more into moon cycles, I highly recommend signing up for her newsletters as well. One of my goals for this year to get a little PDF together of all the New Moon tarot spreads I have done over the years so you can have a couple of New Moon inspired tarot spreads at your finger tips any time you want to work with the moon and tarot- two of my favorite energies!

Until next time XOXOXO!

New Moon in Capricorn, December 29th, 2016

It is the last New Moon reading of the year! Goodbye 2016! I hope you all had the best of years! 2016 was ruled by the soul-searching energy of The Hermit, which heralds the end of a 9 year tarot cycle. Many things came to an end during 2016 and you may have recently felt a sense of release and completion in certain aspects of your life. And even if you didn’t, now is the perfect time of year to let go of pain, sadness, angry, and resentment, leaving it behind you with 2016. At the very least we can recommit to the idea that our past does not control our present.

Capricorn New Moon energy is wonderful for taking back control of the practicalities of your life. It’s time to create plans and structures that will work to make your life comfortable and secure. Now is the time to sit down and write out all you are thankful for about 2016 and set down your goals for 2017. Lay out those plans now in order to take advantage of the practical, Capricorn earth energy.

The Hermetic Tarot: King of Pentacles,   Ace of Wands,   Two of Pentacles

What will help close out 2016, leaving behind that which you don’t want to bring along into 2017? What to leave behind now?- King of Pentacles

The King of Pentacles asks you to pay appreciative attention to all that you have been working on for the past nine years (or just the last year if 9 is bit too ambitious for you!). This King represents abundance, achievement, wealth, and fulfillment. He points to all that you have accomplished, all your successes, all that you have built. It’s the perfect time to take note of the instances when you have been responsible, detail-oriented, and focused in order to reach your goal. I’m sure you can think of quite a few things you are proud of doing in the past nine years. Why not let that really sink in at this New Moon? Take time to reflect, make a list of some of your favorite accomplishments, or create a photo collage or slideshow of your greatest hits from this time period. Try to do some kind of ritual, ceremony, activity, or whatever! that brings you into reflection mode. Remember, when you focus on what you want to bring into your life, you attract more of that energy. When you tell the Universe that you feel good for having achieved X, Y, and Z, you become super-infused with that energy which can help you in the next 9 year cycle to achieve even more!

How can you stay positive and focus on optimism and success in 2017? What kind of year is ahead?– Ace of Wands

The Ace of Wands is a fresh start, a new beginning, a spontaneous spark of inspiration or passion in the coming year. This goes along beautifully with the 1 (one) energy of The Magician who will rule over 2017. It is time to manifest something all together different and new to you. When you want to focus on the positive, one of the best things you can do for yourself is refrain from going over and over past failures and regrets in your head. Snap out of the negativity pattern by having something bright and fiery fresh to distract you and get you back into the present. Even if you want to be doing the same old routines that you really enjoy, it really couldn’t hurt to spice things up a little bit with the new year. Say you have a workout routine that has yielded great results, super! Now it can’t hurt to add a few new moves, try out a different run route, get some fresh workout music, or some other little change to keep you fired up about your fitness. If you have completely failed repeatedly to find a physical fitness routine that works for you, the Ace of Wands suggests that you do something totally different, maybe even something you have been avoiding or think wouldn’t be fun. Give it a shot anyway! The Ace of Wands is full of surprises and keeping your life full of new experiences and ideas will help keep you focused on positivity and inspired in 2017.

What will help create structure and set achievable goals for 2017? Let’s set you up for success and happiness in 2017!– Two of Pentacles

It’s all about balance with the II of Pentacles when you’re working on setting goals for 2017. There is as much need to make the decision to get things done as there is a need to plan out down time for rest and recuperation. You want to look at all the different areas of your life that need tending and bring into harmony how much you are doing you with how much you are just being you. Think, for example, about your home. You probably have some projects you want to do around the house, some ways you can improve your living situation, making your home into your very own. This is a lot of action and doing, so you also need to make sure you are just being in your home. Plan out time to rest, relax, and appreciate your home environment. The II of Pentacles points out this need to bring both activity and stillness into every area of your life, with a special emphasis on the home, finances, the physical body, and the environment which are all ruled by Pentacles and Capricorn as Earth element cards. The II of Pentacles stresses the need for time management, creating priorities, and adapting to the ways you will change and grow during the year. You don’t have to have it all figured out now, I mean you’re never going to have it all figured out! So set yourself manageable and fun goals that you can focus on accomplishing with grace and ease.

There it is! Your last New Moon Reading for the year. I’m wishing you all a wonderful New Year 2017 and I’ll be back with lots more content in the new year. Gemini New Moon Messages Tarot Reading, June 4th, 2016

What’s new, everybody!? Well, the moon is new in the sign of Gemini today, which may give you a deeper desire to communicate and engage with those around you. The Gemini New Moon is communicative, so this is a great time to get your message out there. What do you want to tell your lover, your friends, your coworkers, or the whole wide world? You have the ability and gumption to spread the word with this New Moon, whether it be in writing, a conversation, or a work of art, etc. As usual, I’ve done a special tarot reading to help us get in alignment with the fresh, inspired energy of the New Moon. This month’s reading gives us each advice from the tarot:

The Hierophant Shadowscapes tarot

The Hierophant
Shadowscapes tarot

What message do you need to share at this New Moon?- The Hierophant
The Hierophant wants you to share your wisdom, your knowledge, and your expertise. We each have things that we just know how to do better than others. Perhaps you have extensive experience in a matter which you see a friend or loved one struggling with now. Why not offer them your insight into the situation, share your story? You don’t have to force your perspective or advice down their throat, but you can gently let them know that they are not alone and they will get through it. The Hierophant is a reminder that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel since most of the time you are not the first human to ever go through something. If you are struggling, look to a wise counsellor for help, someone who you can trust and open up to. Often getting a feeling into words and off your chest is the first step towards healing.

4EmperorSS

The Emperor rx Shadowscapes tarot

What advice will help you most effectively communicate this message?- Emperor rx
Like I mentioned above, the best way to communicate with others is avoid condescending or lording your experience over them. Just because you have done it and can see the solution or feel like it is so easy to get over whatever is bugging your friend, just means you are forgetting how hard it was before. You need to tune into your empathy instead of Mr. Fix-It behavior. Instead of saying, “You know what you need to do, xyz, etc.?,” try saying, “Ugh, that is tough but I’m sure you can get through it and I support you.”  Do you see the difference? In that same vein, if you are the one doing the sharing, ask yourself if you are looking for advice or support? Find a friend or counsellor who will meet that need. There is a big need for love, generosity, and acceptance now so open up your heart to the warmth of others.

VI of Swords rx Shadowscapes tarot

VI of Swords rx
Shadowscapes tarot

How can you channel your creativity and inspiration to learn to communicate?- VI of Swords rx
It is time to learn how to let go. Well, it is always time to learn how to let go since this is a constant process for us baggage holder humans. Our minds want to cling to past hurts, slights, and regrets, but honestly those rarely serve us in any helpful capacity. It’s time to find some techniques for moving into the present and out of the past. Your Hierophant advisor may have some thoughtful ideas on how to go about doing this so look for mentors or guides to lead you to the next level of letting go. You need to learn to recognize your resistance, your blocks, and your triggers. These are constants that you will find popping up over and over again in a similar pattern. Getting a firm grasp of where your resistance crops up is a great step towards working to overcome it.

Gemini energy is fresh and playful so make an effort to get out there and have some fun while the New Moon is energizing this sign. Air signs love to be outside breathing in refreshing oxygen, so take some time for outdoor play.  Gemini also has a great sense of humor so enjoy a good laugh at a funny movie or playing games with friends. When was the last time you played charades? This is the perfect opportunity to communicate through play!

As usual, I invite you to get in touch if you would like a personal New Moon reading! I am available for email readings that we can customize to whatever question you have for the cards.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Fire Energy Tarot Reading for the New Moon in Aries

The Aries New Moon is upon us and with it comes some intense fire energy.  Get ready to light things up! Aries is all about action, individuality, self-expression, and inspiration.  This is a time to start something new that has been brewing inside of you, or to find sudden inspiration to do something you’ve never done before!  Work with the Aries New Moon to bring into your life a couple of intentions or aspirations for the next moon cycle.  New Moons are all about beginnings, planting seeds, and slowly starting to flourish.  This would be a great night to sit by a fire and spell out your intentions or goals.  Tell a friend or lover, journal it in your notebook, or just gaze into the flames to envision your future.  Here is some practical advice from the tarot on working with the energy of the New Moon in Aries!

The Hierophant Shadowscapes tarot

The Hierophant
Shadowscapes tarot

Where do I need more fire energy in my life to spark new inspiration and creativity?- The Hierophant
You need more fire energy in your work, in your society, in your belief system, in your personal world structure.  The Hierophant is not a fiery guy, but he is a persistent, steady, wise and hard-working guy.  He is inspired by truth, by faith, and by his community. He asks you to bring fire energy into your daily routine.  If you are not normally a super energetic or spontaneous person, this type of fire energy will be right up your alley.  Instead of jumping in, you can plan it out.  You can systematically say,  “I need more passion and soul in this area of my life.  This is how I’m going to do it.”  You will have creative insights and more drive than usual to pinpoint those areas, make those changes, and bring about change.  If you are normally quite fiery, The Hierophant asks you to direct that fire, to streamline it into huge achievement.  If you’re always be tugged by the divine muses to create, now is your chance to channel those nudges of creativity into a full roaring fire of productivity.  Work with Hierophant energy to create that channel, to make systems and processes for bringing your inspiration into form.  This is a wonderful time for hard-working accomplishments.

The Hanged Man Shadowscapes Tarot

The Hanged Man
Shadowscapes Tarot

What can I do or create to better express my personality and individuality?- The Hanged Man rx
You need to stop waiting around for the perfect moment and act now.  You need to stop putting other people’s needs first and get your oxygen mask before assisting your neighbor.  There is a certain honor to altruistic behaviors, but not when you take it to the extreme of martyrdom, especially when no one even asked you for help in the first place.  Do you even know what you want?  How do you want to live? What do you want to create?  What is your soul person?  The Hanged Man asks you to take a look at those questions with fresh perspective, new angles, a spotlight of hope and wonder.  Don’t hesitate, don’t delay, now is the time.  You can dig deep into your psyche and explore your soul.  You can shine a light on yourself and recognize who you are.  You can figure out how you are hiding or repressing your individuality and personality.  You can decide not to continue those practices of self-denial and martyrdom.  You are the most important person in your life.  There is no “your life” without you, so start treating yourself as #1.

Cups9SS

IX of Cups           Shadowscapes tarot

How can I have more fun and glowing active energy in my life?- IX of Cups
Open up your heart!  The IX of Cups wants you to know that fun and games are good for you.  Having fun soothes the weary spirit.  It heals the wounded heart.  When you let fire energy and inspiration glow inside of you, you also allow for feelings of happiness and joy to be acceptable.  You do not have to be a miserable person.  You are not obligated to be negative, or trapped, or hate the things you are doing. You can take a fresh approach.  You can say that you are lucky, that you are blessed, and that you love the life you’re living.  You can be happy to be alive.  You don’t have to be jaded to fit in.  You don’t have to worry about seeming like a nut or a superficial person for not being bogged down by the sadness and weight of the world.  If we each enjoyed ourselves a little more, brought more happiness and love into the world, and smiled at one another, perhaps the burdens of the world would start to dissipate.  Perhaps we are perpetuating sorrow by clinging to it when it is better to focus on love than to focus on anything else at all.

I hope you enjoyed this New Moon reading for the fire energy of Aries on this April 7, 2016. This was a pretty heavy reading, lots of intense energy for us!  As usual, if you would like to order a personalized New Moon reading or any email tarot reading, please check out my readings page and select the right reading for you.  I look forward to working with you to create empowered change through personal insight and self-discovery.  XOXOX!

New Moon in Aquarius Reading, February 8th, 2016

Happy New Moon, little lovelies!  You know the New Moon is my favorite time of the month to get clear about goals and intentions for the next four weeks. And what better way to connect to that energy than with a tarot reading for insight and empowerment?!

The New Moon in Aquarius is a wonderful opportunity to allow yourself to think outside of the box. Aquarius energy supports innovation, revolution, new ideas, and being unique. Aquarius air energy gives you a boost in mental clarity so take some time now to think logically about yourself and your goals. This energy also carries an increased desire and ability to communicate, so why not try telling people about your goals and dreams now. You may find yourself better equipped to articulate what you are trying to do with yourself and your life. Plus, telling a friend adds that element of accountability that can really kick your ass into gear.  Let’s see what insight the tarot can lend us at this time:

VIII of Swords Shadowscapes tarot

VIII of Swords
Shadowscapes tarot

How can I invite some innovative fresh energy in my life?-  VIII of Swords
It’s time to let go of the self-created barriers in your mind that are holding you back. This is a card about mental transformation. So often, it is our negative thought patterns that keep us stuck. The human mind has evolved to avoid risks in order to stay alive. So we often fall back on old methods and ways of operating that have kept us safe and secure in the past. But that’s no way to live! Especially when we are talking about creative risks, which are so necessary for our souls. Examine the ways you are mentally restricting yourself. Watch out for nay-saying mental commentary that puts all of your dreams and achievements in a negative light. When that little voice in your head tells you that your ideas are crap or you’re never going to be good enough, respond to that little voice with a loud affirmation of your worthiness. If it says, “You aren’t talented enough to succeed” shout back it, “Well, I deserve to practice and improve because my talent grows and flourishes when I lavish it with attention and allow myself to be a work in progress.”  Whatever it is that your thoughts tell you you can’t do, it’s time to start breaking down those thoughts and telling yourself what you can do. You can do a lot, believe me!  And when you believe in yourself you can do almost anything 🙂

II of Cups Shadowscapes tarot

II of Cups
Shadowscapes tarot

How can I express my unique personality?– II of Cups
It all starts with some self love. The II of Cups wants you to bring balance, peace, and love into your life. You can do this by allowing yourself to feel those things about yourself. Remember the old saying, you can’t love anyone else unless you love yourself first? Well, it really does work that way! Would you be more attracted to a person who is always saying self-deprecating things or a person with the confidence and self-love to say nice things when describing themselves? I’m not talking about bragging here, I’m talking about being sincere and honest about what you have accomplished and what you love about yourself. When you examine your personality, ask yourself- what do I just love about myself? If you immediately want to say “NOTHING!”, go back to the VIII of Swords above and remember that your brain is trying to trick you into never changing your perspective because of weird evolutionary things that don’t actually apply to you right now. Force yourself to think of three things that you love about yourself and then try to expand from there. When you figure out what you love about yourself, then you are on the right track to expressing your unique personality and attracting people to who you truly are.

IX of Wands rx Shadowscapes tarot

IX of Wands rx
Shadowscapes tarot

What will help me express my inner creativity?- IX of Wands reversed
You have to let your guard down. Stop being so defensive and closed off and let you creativity out. If you are totally ashamed of what you have created, it can be hard to show others your work. Ask yourself where those expectations of perfection or high achievement are coming from? Who is shaming you in feeling insecure and bad about yourself? Do you expect yourself to be the best musician after one lesson, or the best painter after watching one episode of Bob Ross?  Remember that these things take time, but that every day you work on your creativity, you learn and grow and get closer to being as good at creating as you want to be. You don’t get any closer or better if you give up because you didn’t write the next great American novel on the first try. Look for people who will support you. Who will look through your photographs and show you the best ones and encourage you, instead of focusing on what went wrong in all the crappy photographs you took. Invite over your friends who will enjoy anything you cook, instead of a picky friend who will make you feel like you’ll never get your flavor profiles right. If you are feeling fragile, there are still little steps you can take. Just don’t close yourself off and say you’re a failure or that no one will ever like what you create. Go back to step #2 and focus on your self love. You will undoubtedly love yourself more for trying than for giving up before you even started.

Ok, cutie pies, there is your New Moon in Aquarius tarot reading. It is very much inspired by the book I am reading called The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Check it out if you are aspiring to delve more consciously into unblocking your inner Artist. I’m also super happy to customize a tarot reading along this theme, or any theme, if you would like to order an intuitive tarot reading from me!  Happy New Moon!

Capricorn New Moon Reading for January 9, 2016

The year starts out, as per usual, with a New Moon in Capricorn. Capricorn is associated with ambition, determination, and practicality. These are the perfect characteristics for goal-setting and planning at the beginning of a new lunar cycle, and more importantly- a NEW YEAR!  (My excitement about 2016 has not worn off just yet!!) We humans seem to love making resolutions at the beginning of the year, but we don’t tend to love following through on them. I know I’ve made a million resolutions and am already a bit nervous about how my follow through is going. Why is that? Maybe it’s because we don’t make those resolutions any fun! Well, I think the tarot makes everything more fun, so I’m going to use the Wild Unknown Tarot deck to ask for some guidance for all of us at this turning point in the year. Let’s see what advice we receive for making our goals more achievable and joyful this time around!

What will help me effectively plan my creations for the year?- VII of Cups reversed
It’s time to break down illusions. Whatever fantasies or pipe dreams you are holding onto from the past, now is the time to let them go in order to plan for the future. Perhaps you are sad that you will never be a ballerina or an astronaut, but you know what, you are something else right now. Focus on the person you are who actually exists now, instead of lamenting the person you thought you were going to be. What do you like about yourself? What do you want to improve? If you absolutely must be a ballerina, start taking classes now! Make some specific and achievable steps that will get you moving in the right direction.

The VII of Pentacles reversed also asks you to make sure you aren’t latching on to day dreams that serve only to distract you. Yes, it may be fun to imagine your trip around the world in a hot air balloon, but that kind of escapism can be detrimental if you never get around to making concrete goals in reality. Know that many of your fantasies would not actually make you happy or be that fun and life fulfilling. That hot air balloon trip?- miserable.  As it turns out you have a fear of heights, small spaces, and peeing in a jar. Distinguish between things that are fun to imagine and things you actually want to do in the real world. Put aside the fantasies for a little bit now to do some goal setting.

How can I commit fully to my intentions this year?- III of Swords reversed
It’s time to leave sorrow behind. Your past hurts, regrets, and pain do not define you as a person. You are so much more than all the bad things that have come to pass in your life. Those circumstances need to be released so that you can create room inside of you for new experiences, new growth, new thoughts and feelings. If you are using up all your mental capacity on remembering your woes, you leave no room for contemplating your happiness. It’s time to devise ways to work through and release your pain. Some ideas are: go to therapy, talk to friends, journal, meditate, do a hypnosis session, etc.

Just as the VII of Pentacles reversed ask you to distinguish between fantasies and goals, the III of Swords reversed wants you to distinguish between unhealing wounds and mere slights. Deep sorrow from the past may change you forever, but it doesn’t make you incapable of moving on and finding gratitude and appreciation in everything that comes after it. You may never be the same after the death of a loved one, for example, but that does not mean you are incapable of experiencing joy and success every again. Less traumatizing past experiences can also be released and forgotten. That guy who stepped on your foot on the bus? Stop replaying in your head all the nasty things you could have said to him to make him feel bad. Your foot is fine! Don’t let you mind feed on a vicious cycle of negative. Try replacing those mean-spirited conversations in your head with positive affirmations and encouragement.

What can ground me in the joy of my responsibilities and goals?-
VII of Pentacles reversed
Try not to hold onto one vision of success. If you are obsessively focused on a fixed outcome, you lose the opportunity for spontaneity, for serendipity, to let your path unfold as you go. If there is only one acceptable outcome in your future, you create lots of pain and misery when you end up achieving something else, no matter how awesome that something else may be. Set your goals, but also allow the future to remain a mysterious place of varied outcomes. It is more important to be present and joyful in the moment, than to slave away toward a future that ultimately is unknowable. Not all means to an end are worth the goal. Don’t ruin the world now in an effort to create something to save it later, that just doesn’t make sense.

Remember to check in on your progress towards you goals often. Do you even want the same thing you started out to achieve now that you are working on it? Recognize all of the peripheral effects your striving has produced and check in on how you feel about these consequences. Just don’t grind along blindly towards your goals without giving them regular updates and attention. You may find that you have veered off course, and you may even like where you are headed more than your original goal! Otherwise, regular check ins will help you get back on track before you totally derail.
