Taurus New Moon Tarot Reading for April 26, 2017

The Sun and the Moon are both in the earthy sign of Taurus today. It’s springtime in the northern hemisphere and the earth is awakening, each day blooming and opening just a little bit more. This is a profoundly potent time for personal renewal as the Earth renews its flowers and leaves and the Moon renews it’s waxing journey towards fullness. There is a recognition of the necessity of beauty and pleasure in life at this time of year. Make it a priority to spend time in nature, taking a walk, looking at the spring flowers, breathing in the warming air. These are not frivolous pursuits but rather the fuel for your soul to flourish. This process of flourishing should not be rushed. Taurus likes to take her time, reveling in the richness of life. Be patient, gentle, and indulgent in your self-appraisal at this New Moon. Let’s look at what advice for intention setting with the New Moon that the tarot has for us at this time:

Motherpeace Tarot: Priestess of Wands, VIII of Swords, The Emperor, The Devil

What will help you connect with the pleasure and enjoyment of the physical world around you?- Priestess of Wands

If anyone is out having a wonderful walk, connecting with the natural world, it is the woman on this card, the Priestess (Queen) of Wands. The image contains sun, clouds, rainbow, flowers, lion, salamander, and a naked woman confidently out for a walk- I love it! This Priestess wants you to follow your passion, do what lights you up inside, follow your inner fire energy. She contains magic and so do you. So do all of us. She isn’t afraid of nature and emphasizes the oneness that includes everything on this planet. If you think about what a tiny speck of existence the Earth occupies in the infinity of The Universe it is easy to see how we are all related and connected as part of this planet. That kind of perspective can quickly slip from your grasp on a daily basis when bogged down with the minutiae of getting by, though. It’s important to remember that it as often as possible! The Priestess of Wands advises us all to “Just do it!”, regarding the need to connect with all of Earth. Actually, it’s easy to imagine that this is an image of the goddess Nike…

What will help you connect with the pleasure and enjoyment of your physical body?- VIII of Swords

On the VIII of Swords we see a woman engaged in a sword battle with a brick wall. The message this card imparts is that most of the time the battles we engage in are only real within our minds. They are not based in reality and they are not physical. Our minds trap us into these seeming corners and by fighting against them we actually give these walls strength by the acknowledgment of their existence. These walls are not real though! Oftentimes, the opinions and perceptions we have about our bodies are equally not based in logic and reality. We follow unobtainable body standards shoved at us by marketing so that we will buy products to “fix” ourselves. I challenge you to not use any of those products today. Forget about putting paint on your fingernails or powder on your eyelids. Skip the HIIT workout and go skipping around a field instead. Do what brings you joy! Love your body exactly as it is in this moment because it’s a hell of a lot easier to find joy than it is to find six pack abs (not to mention that one is necessary and the other is so not.)

How can you make solid, structured steps towards your financial goals this month?- The Emperor

Well, hello Mr. Emperor, might you possibly be good with money (read with loads of sarcasm)?! You can learn a lot from the structure and disciple of the Emperor. He is a wise, but conservative investor. He earns a steady income and keeps track of his spending. He knows when he can splurge and when to hold onto his money. There is a lot to be gained with the help of this financially savvy card and the prevailing Taurus energy of the next two weeks. Why not take advantage of that energy? Sit down and make a budget, a real one with actually line items and numbers on it. If you have to bribe yourself into doing it, that’s fine. Get a fancy coffee drink or drive to your favorite outdoor spot so you can get your finances straight. Once you know what money is coming versus going out, you’ll be in much better shape to rule over your little empire. Otherwise you’re just wishing and hoping with no solid base or plan in this reality.

Where do you need greater patience with your progress towards your life goals?- The Devil reversed

I love how the image on this Motherpeace tarot card for The Devil is basically a representation of the patriarchy. Yes, we all are impatient to break old, useless power structures and get on on with the evolution of the human race, but we here on this website are not the ones scrambling to hold onto that power dynamic, are we? Even so, we can all practice letting go of our egos, turning away from materialism and consumerism, and focusing instead on our spiritual connection. It is amazingly easy to slide into full on egomaniac mode though. We succumb to addictions, physical craving, anger and resentment of others, jealousy, and negativity loops. Right now we are steering clear of those Devil pitfalls and just allowing for life to be as it is. This is beautiful and encouraging. Perhaps we do not require greater patience but rather simply enduring patience. We are getting somewhere, just slowly, which is just how Taurus loves to do things! There is much to enjoy in the present, the way things are, so set the intention to do just that. Be present and grateful at this New Moon. You are getting somewhere!

Dominating Your Life with The Emperor

The archetype of the The Emperor represents stability. The Emperor is card IV in the tarot. Numerologically, the number 4 is square and stable, reminiscent of a tall, strong mountain. The Emperor is like a solid, heavy stone firmly grounded in the earth, but rising high enough above it to watch over the land below. When The Emperor appears in a reading, he tells you that now is the time to create and cultivate stability, it will come naturally…

When The Emperor appears in a reading, he tells you that now is the time to create and cultivate stability, it will come naturally.

The Emperor comes after the The Empress in the tarot deck. The Empress represents abundance and fertile creation. Following along on the Fool’s Journey, whatever you gave birth to with The Empress energy is ready to grow, develop strong roots, flourish, and stabilize with Emperor energy. This is a natural progression from idea to fruition. Contemplate what it is that you have developed, gestated, or manifested.  The Emperor will see those things take true and stable form. This is the balance of complimentary feminine and masculine energy.

The Emperor                Rider Waite Smith deck

The Emperor is a ruler and therefore deals with developing and attaining new levels of authority. This can show up in many different ways in your life. For example, if you have been working on a business idea, you will truly start to feel like an authority in that field. Or perhaps you are working on personal development, and will find yourself feeling like a ruler of yourself at this time. When thinking about relationships, you may be moving away from an Empress time colored by the beauty and sensual exploration of a new or long-lasting love, while now you will focus more on firm commitment and the power of a steady long-term relationship.

The energy of The Emperor will allow you be highly organized, strategic, and a problem-solver- all qualities of an ideal ruler. This increased level of domination and authority of The Emperor does bring a sense of power and accomplishment, but also one of strong accountability. It can be wonderful to be in charge and do things your own way.  You get to rule your kingdom, make the rules, and not ask for permission for anything.  Enjoy this power, even as you remember that with great power comes great responsibility (or so I heard in Spiderman ;)).

The Emperor gets to rule the empire, but he does it with the best interests of all his subjects in mind.  Share your wisdom with others, offer guidance, be a grounding force for those around you that need that strong Emperor energy. Note that flexibility is always needed in life, so do not box yourself into a dogged routine.  Regularly check in with yourself and make sure you’re leading in a direction that still corresponds to your overall life goals. You can be a mentor or support system for others now.

The Emperor card is ruled by Aries, which is a cardinal, fire sign. A cardinal sign is a natural leader sign, which is quite obviously represented by The Emperor. Fire signs are born initiators, ready to start new projects, get the ball rolling, and lead the charge. The important thing to remember is follow-through. Aries fire energy can be very good for starting, but not always good for staying the course and finishing. Luckily, the solid and responsible aspects of The Emperor can help you maintain progress and keep up your efforts.  Expect much masculine fire energy now, where you are ready to take charge and establish a structure for all projects or goals you set.  The Emperor is good at decision-making and self-control, which are characteristics that lead to success.

The Emperor reversed:
When The Emperor shows up in reverse in a reading, it’s time to delve into the power structures in your life. Where are you giving away your power? Where are you failing to claim your power? How can you get your power back? Something is blocking you from developing your full strength, and often that block is fear. Fear that you will make the wrong decision, fear that your choices will bring too much responsibility, or fear that you will fail. The Emperor in reverse gives you the advice to examine your fear and decide how to get your power back.

The Emperor rx Shadowscapes tarot

It isn’t easy to accept responsibility and control of life. So often we choose to let matters run their course, leave the ball in someone else’s court, or surrender to the whims of the Universe in defeat or withdrawal. It is hard to know if something is just not meant to be or if we are not working hard enough to claim what we desire. The Emperor reversed asks you to at least check in with yourself and make sure you aren’t giving up the fight because you are scared, or tired, or facing setbacks.

Sometimes life is just full of obstacles and everything sucks. That doesn’t mean you need to give up on your business idea, or your relationship, or whatever is giving you grief these days. It will be worth it to push through. Do something! The Emperor is about action, domination and rulership, remember. She doesn’t take shit or sit on her hands and worry. She knows she has to act now, to make a decision, to use her head and be logical and just.

So gather your scattered thoughts. Put thing in order. Give yourself goals and structure. Ground yourself in the physical world. Imagine you are a mountain in your own life. You are the tallest thing around and you survey your kingdom with a scrutinizing eye. Get aggressive on your fear, confronting it, challenging it, dealing with it, and living with it. With The Emperor reversed you have a clear sign of what you need to do: get grounded and stable, make a plan and a structure, act decisively and rationally, and then claim your power. You can be the ruler of your own life.

Birthday Reading for Me! Turning 33 with The Hierophant

Yay!  July 8th is my birthday and this year I turn 33 years old.  Numerologically, this is year of The Hierophant for me. I think that a birthday is a wonderful time to do a tarot reading, so I developed a special spread to help process and guide the energies of the coming year. I did this spread last year, and am excited to share another birthday reading with you this year. I had a blast rereading last year’s birthday reading and working up this new one.

The birthday tarot spread I developed is a 6 question spread addressing:  1. how will your current tarot year card manifest itself in your life,  2. what lessons do you need to learn this year, 3. what particular area of your life do you need to focus on this year, 4. what obstacles stand in your way this year, 5. what can help you achieve your goals this coming year, and 6. what kind of year can you expect to experience? I used the Shadowscapes deck to do this reading.

My immediate thought upon seeing the cards was, “Whoa, this reading is HEAVY”.  I had a professor in college who would fail any paper that contained the word heavy as an adjective that described anything besides a unit of measurement, but seriously guys, I can feel the weight of this reading on my shoulders. And it feels heavy. The Hierophant is bit of a difficult year to wrap my head around. I don’t always have the best associates with this archetype, since it represents conformity, dogma, discipline and a general “in the box” sort of thinking- no tarot reader’s favorite place to be. I want to be free and expansive, but there are still so many lessons I need to learn from those who are older and wiser, from society as a social structure that exists for a reason, from all of the cultivated wisdom that can help me on my journey.

Here I am doing my birthday tarot reading at Lake Oologah in Oklahoma.

Here’s what I drew:

justiceSS

Justice reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

How will The Hierophant manifest in my life this year: Justice reversed
Here is a card I hear cry out in my own voice: “But this isn’t FAIR!” I have a keenly developed sense of logic. I smile appreciatively when someone tells me I’m rational, level-headed, or that I make “so much sense”. The elevation of logic is a cultural norm in my Eurocentric worldview, so I always want to embody the rational approach. My Moon sign, the sign of emotions, is in the Air sign (read- mind-oriented, logical realm) of Aquarius (read- I want to be unique about my rational). So,I feel emotionally comfy and secure when I’m using my noggin and people think I’m so super smart and different for my perspective. The Hierophant energy of my year wants me to fall in line, though. This year is ruled by an energy of conformity and Justice reversed tells me that I’m not gonna like it. I’ve been living out of a van for the last year, ruling over my own life (read EMPIRE as it was an Emperor year). This year, though Kristen and I are getting an apartment again and it may be weird and difficult to sign a lease, fill out job applications, or do all those normal people things- like have a mailing address. Justice reversed tells me that there will probably be some kick back against the rigidity of The Hierophant. I’m going to want to keep doing things my own way, when the energy around me is all about saying that I need to live inside the box for a while.

worldrxSS

The World rxed Shadowscapes Tarot

What lesson can I learn this year: The World rxed
The journey that I’m on is not over yet. Kristen and I will still be touring around the U.S. for the rest of the summer and then we are going to South America for three months. Still, this year will see us settle down to a greater degree than we have in the past. The World reversed shows me that travel will not be as constant as last year. This is also a card about closure, and I feel an end to a cycle coming on strongly. I’ve learned SO MUCH recently about myself, my outlook on reality, my spirituality, my place in the world, etc. There is a heavy sense of ending around me. This last transit of Saturn through Scorpio is digging up so many of the lessons of the past 3 years that I’m impatient to expound upon. I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready, but the process of ending is frustratingly slow. Sure, I feel ready in my heart, but I don’t feel ready in my physicality, in my timing, in my mind. Something is still off, so hopefully the presence of The World reversed in this position means that this year I will find that culmination and closure that seems so imminent but is sneakily not here just yet.

VI of Cups Shadowscapes Tarot

VI of Cups
Shadowscapes Tarot

What to focus on this year: VI of Cups
Here is a clue to how I can bring about the closure that The World hints at, but doesn’t deliver. The VI of Cups is a card of the past. It represents nostalgia, but also lingering in moments that have already gone by, instead of staying in the present and working toward the future. I need to examine my past and figure out what is holding me back. I could be idealizing a golden age. On the other hand, I could be failing to deal with matters of the heart that still weigh me down or oppress me in some manner. Making peace with the past is difficult for us all. There is always the little voice in the head that wanders if things would be different now if we had acted some other way, if we had chosen some other direction, if we hadn’t done what we had done. I believe we have to leave the past behind us, so my focus this year is to figure out what I’m holding onto from my past that no longer serves me, how to release and let go of that past, and bringing that closure that I’m looking for into the now.

IV of Cups Shadowscapes Tarot

IV of Cups
Shadowscapes Tarot

What will hinder me: IV of Cups
Ironically, what will hinder my process of self assessment and healing the past, is too much introspection. The IV of Cups shows a going within, a time of self examination when the outside world is not as important as the inner world. The warning here is that I must not forget about all the things I need to do with my life to move forward, while I’m examining all the things in my life that I want to leave behind. Here is a reminder to find balance. Yes, examine the past and your past lessons, but do it activitely. My intuition says this means that I can’t do it alone. I need to find outside help. This would tie in perfectly with the energy of The Hierophant, who is often an older and wiser counselor who can help you learn and grow. A personal dream or goal of mine is to find a spiritual advisor who can help me grow as a tarot reader, but also help me process my feelings about my developing spirituality. The IV of Cups is a card of isolation and contemplation, two things I love to do, but will hinder my progress. Here is an opportunity for me to do something outside the norm for myself, even while conforming to a Hierophant year energy.

The Emperor Shadowscapes deck

The Emperor
Shadowscapes deck

What energy will help me: The Emperor reversed
I looove this. Last year was a IV year for me, which is the year of The Emperor. Now I have moved on to a V year, which is the year of The Hierophant. Basically, letting go of what came before will help me move on this coming year. The idea of energy cycles is difficult, especially when I was having such a powerful Emperor year when I felt like I was building up this personal empire. I found so many amazing clients for my tarot business to grow. I also worked hard to build relationships with tons of bookers and clubs in my tour manager career. I feel like Kristen and I could keep this up and conquer the USA as vandwelling musician and tarot readers. But that energy is receding now, and the dream of constant traveling is fading into a desire to get an apartment and a dog and have a home base that doesn’t involve wheels. That is Hierophant energy and I need to accept it and flow with it. It is time to let The Emperor energy go and embrace the new year of my life with The Hierophant.

Judgement Shadowscapes Tarot

Judgement
Shadowscapes Tarot

What type of year can I expect with The Hierophant: Judgement
Here’s why I feel like this is a heavy year of energy. Justice and Judgement are both very serious cards in my opinion, as is The Emperor and The Hierophant. That’s a lot of Major Arcana energy that deals with serious matters. Judgement, card XX also nicely complements The World reversed, card XXI. Before I can find the ending (XXI The World is the last Major), I need to go through the lessons of Judgement. I just did a meditation on Judgement today and things feel very clear to me. I need to heed my inner calling. Honestly, I feel like I have heard that inner calling and being a tarot reader and a traveler and marrying the woman of my dreams. I’m just not sure I’ve told everyone, or lived that inner calling, which I feel is the next step. Being an introvert isn’t going to work, says the IV of Cups. I need to shine my light outward and people are not going to understand or even like it, which goes against my sense of logical with Justice reversed. I need to put the past behind me, I don’t have to be that girl I was, I can be this woman I am to myself in front of the whole world. Until I do that, this cycle doesn’t end. The fact that all these cards showed up in this reading, gives me strength that I’m on the right path. This reading makes me feel like I know what to do and that I CAN do it.

P1070365This year I will work to fulfill my inner calling. I have heard it, now I must act and be living in accordance with that calling. I will do this by bringing about a positive and happy transition from my childhood atheism to my present spirituality. I should look for others who have lived a similar path and I will learn from them. I will branch out to include others in my inner world, letting my heart shine it’s light onto all those who need it. I will let go of some of my vandwelling independence and join the ranks of rent paying, addressed homebodies. I will celebrate and acknowledge what I have done before and be open to take that next Fool’s leap into a new way of living. This reading is huge for me! Thank you so much for being a part of the journey thus far and consider this your cordial invitation to continue onward with me on this willow path.

How are you learning and growing this year as we slowly revolve around the sun on this great planet of ours? Do you know what your goals and dreams are?  Are you working toward them? Do you know what is holding you back and what can support you in moving forward? Are you acting in alignment with who you are? Do you know how to listen to your calm inner center of being? I feel motivated and encouraged by this reading.  I know I have a lot of work to do, both in the physical world and in my internal spiritual development.  It’s a wonderful thing to have the tarot for these exercises in self reflection and empowerment. Please get in touch if you would like a reading of your own!

King Swords reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

King Swords reversed

Lesson of 2014: King of Swords reversed
The King of Swords is an authority on truth and rationality, things that can be lacking from one’s life when in the reversed position. In 2014 I lacked decisiveness about the opportunities before me and what direction I should take. It was a year of growth when I was still making up my mind about what exactly I wanted to do and what it is that inspires me. I struggled with mental clarity and using my intelligence to make critical decisions. Quitting my librarian job, moving into a van, and traveling full time were big moves. I leaned more towards using my intuition and listening to my inner voice to decide which direction to follow, especially using the tarot and starting this business. The struggle between the rational and the intuitive, and creating harmony between the two, were big lessons for me in 2014.I didn’t have a clear idea of what I was doing during much of 2014, or what I hoped to achieve and why.  I wasn’t able to make clear, long term decisions because I wasn’t sure how the plan to be on the road was going to pan out. I spent a lot of time last year not being the King of Swords, which allowed me to be in sometimes murky and confusing situations but able to adapt and keep going. Sometimes in life we take on new challenges that don’t allow us to be authority figures, intelligent leaders, or quickly decisive. Last year I learned how to be in that kind of situation and accept my capabilities.

Love advice for 2015: The Emperor
The Emperor represents a stable love life for the coming year. This is warm and welcome news! I am already in a well established relationship as my girlfriend, Kristen, and I have been dating for three years.  We have created a secure relationship structure and a firm foundation for our love.  This coming year I should focus on appreciating the fact that the relationship is stable, practical, and committed. Sometimes things are steady and strong between two people and relationship growth isn’t necessary or needed.  We can just be as we are and feel good about it. The Emperor points out that there is a lot of power in this relationship as well. If we work together we can be an authoritative couple, we rule over our little empire with a responsible eye and accountable hearts. The Emperor also represents success, so I would interpret this to mean that the structure and rules of our relationship will lead us to be happy and healthy together, to succeed in making each other happy and creating a life together. My relationship advice is to be committed and secure.

High Priestess reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

Work advice: The High Priestess reversed
As a tarot reader, I identify strongly with the archetype of The High Priestess. She represents the portal between the conscious and the mysterious unknown.  She is awareness and connection to the mysteries of the universe. Since this card is reversed, I interpret that as a need to focus on developing my inner High Priestess. Things I can do to access her knowledge include: meditate, listening to my inner voice, and studying spirituality. I am still a developing tarot reader, although the essence and drive is there, I do need to be devoted to growth in my knowledge and business. I need to find my calm centre and learn how to live there. This is important work. I must take time for ME, away from distraction, to reflect, study, listen and grow. Inner knowing is the goal.  I must dedicate myself to the task of studying tarot and growing my business is the advice from The High Priestess reversed.  Her’s are the lessons of a lifetime, and cannot be rushed or immediately understood.  I’m looking forward to continuing my spiritual development which will help me grow my business.

Page of Wands reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

Page of Wands reversed
Shadowscapes Tarot

Health advice for 2015: Page of Wands reversed
I’m always struggling with making healthy choices in my life. I like to eat too much, sit around on my ass, and drink a lot of IPAs. This lack of energy and direction toward my heath and well-being, creates a lack of enthusiasm or optimism for starting a new regime or improving my health. Basically, I need new direction, and the Page of Wands reversed here is saying that it’s not going to be easy to find. I’m actually not even sure what I want to achieve with my health: get strong? lose weight? drink less? get over societal norms of healthy body image? I feel like there are too many obstacles, too many balls in the air, too much going on in other areas of my life to give this the time and energy it deserves. Basically, I’m feeling pessimistic. So, I see this card as a warning that I need to decide what healthy means to me and try a new approach to getting there. I’m lacking fire and drive regarding my health, and aren’t quite ready for a new start. I need to look for something that inspires me, something that I’m passionate about, something creative and new to drive my health goals in 2015.

The Sun Shadowscapes Tarot

The Sun
Shadowscapes Tarot

Biggest obstacle for 2015: The Sun reversed
My biggest obstacle will be finding happiness and joy in something other than what I expected. I’m setting goals for myself this year and I need to be open to the fact that I will probably achieve something quite different than what I’m setting out to achieve.  The Sun reversed reminds me that no matter what I end up achieving, I will be doing exactly what it is I’m meant to do. That can be hard to face, because I want to accomplish my goals and I’m looking forward to success. Setbacks are going to make me feel sad, staying positive may take more effort than usual, the road will not be easy, and making progress will be tough. I may struggle with losing motivation and enthusiasm. This collaborates with the Page of Wands reversed, in that I’m lack a healthy dose of fire energy that drives inspiration and new creativity. I must remind myself that as long as the journey is made with love, no matter the outcome, I shall be happy. The Sun will illuminate and enlighten, but not if I met with resistance.

Page of Swords Shadowscapes Tarot

Page of Swords
Shadowscapes Tarot

What will empower me in 2015: Page of Swords
What will empower me in 2015 is the general Page energy of passion and enthusiasm for new things, in the case of the Swords this enthusiasm comes from the realm of the mind. If last year I learned that I am not the King of Swords, this year I can be empowered by being the Page of Swords: starting out, being fresh, finding wisdom from my elders, being bold, enthusiastic, and focused. I must remember that I am young, idealistic, strong, powerful and new. I can go after my dreams and keep going. Kristen also has this energy and I can take encouragement from her. As she too is a on a difficult journey, we can support each other. I need to ask questions, be a student, be at my current level, and be ready to learn. I am an excellent communicator and should write and speak more with the new people I meet, meaning I need to NETWORK.  The air energy of making plans, using my mind, being intelligent and rational will get my farther than relying on my small supply of fire energy that is lacking with The Sun reversed and The Page of Wands reversed.  Basically, I need to tell myself what to do instead of waiting for a divine spark of inspiration.  I already have great ideas, I need good plans to get those ideas into motion and a rational mind to stick with them.

IV of Pents reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

IV of Pentacles reversed Shadowscapes Tarot

Theme for 2015: Four of Pentacles reversed
My theme of 2015 is letting go of material possessions, stepping outside of social norms of security, and rejecting materialism. This is very apt, as I continue to live in a van, with my girlfriend, and make my living doing tarot card readings- three major aspects of my life that are outside of the social norm. Yet I still feel secure and stable, without clinging to meaningless aspects of the physical world like money and a home. The point of life is not to obtain material possessions but rather to connect with the immaterial, the magic of the world that allows all of creation to exist and be accessible to us. I can set my own rules, define home for myself and financial security my own way. This card can also indicate generosity, and a freedom from greed or materialism. I want to be in the mindset that I will get everything I need, and therefore do not have to cling tightly to every penny and be miserably in a lack mentality. Sure, I will not be able to afford hotel rooms or fancy meals, but if I really need those things, I will find a way to afford them easily. This isn’t easy advice for me for 2015 and I will need to work hard to step outside of my comfort zone, especially financially. This card offers me the advice to get outside of the physical world, as the High Priestess also recommended, through meditation, study of spirituality, and personal growth.

In summary:  Whoa, there is a lot of powerful energy here, and a lot of it crops up around the theme of resistance and setbacks.  The reversed High Priestess, reversed Page of Wands, and The Sun reversed cards all speak to challenges, and difficult lessons to learn in the coming year. I may be lacking in that fire energy that animates and inspires me, so will need to learn to function well without enough of that element.  I need to think about how I can let go, what will help me accept and go with the flow. I have so many plans and creatives projects stored away in my brain from this last year, that hopefully fanning those sparks with a healthy dose of Air using the Page of Swords will set me on the right path.

The big lesson of 2014 in the King of Swords should help me with going with the flow, as I’ve already given up a position of authority and expertise when I quit my job and became a full time tarot reader. That experience that has taught me how to be out of my zone of expertise and off in turbulent waters. The High Priestess is adept at living in the murky places and figuring out what her inner voice and intuition can lend to the matter. Meditation and further tarot study should help me learn how to navigate those difficult waters.

Speaking of water, there are no Cups in this reading.  This may indicate that I’m feeling secure in my heart and love life, as indicated by the Emperor in this reading.  It may also mean that strong emotions and approaching life from my heart space will not be of much assistance to me this year.  The Page of Swords is saying that what will really help me out is to use my mind, be logical and rational, and think things through. The inner developments I want to go about in my tarot learning and business journey should not be over emotional, but rather well thought out and planned with the sense of new beginning and exploration.  It is always important to remember that all elements are necessary to create and sustain a healthy life, so I must not shy away from my heart space and look for the love in my life every day!

Overall, I can’t expect to gain financial security, or be overly attached to material possessions as the IV of Pentacles reversed shows that 2015 will be another year of living outside of social norms and finding the beautiful lessons that come from thinking outside of the narrow box of what is normal. Outside of normal is actually where I’m most comfortable, so at least I know I will continue to resist expectations from the outside world. I’m really looking forward to the coming year and all of the challenges and gifts that 2015 will bring with it.  I hope you enjoyed this reading and please get in touch if you would like a New Years reading of your very own!!  Email me at: thewillowpathtarot@gmail.com
