Pisces New Moon Reading, February 26, 2017

The New Moon in Pisces brings today a powerful, intuitive energy that is perfect for imagining the life of your dreams. Now is the time to bring your personal vibration into alignment with the energy of those dreams. Practice raising your energy up to the level at which you want to achieve on a normal basis by holding onto the wonder and happiness that your dreams inspire inside of you. Hold onto that wonder whenever, wherever you can and watch it become a natural part of yourself.

Pisces is a water sign, exposing the emotional depths of your soul. Use this New Moon to notice any blockages in the flow of your emotions and set the intention of clearing these blocks so you can live peacefully and openly with a loving heart. Pisces energy is compassionate and understanding, ready to bring the whole world to this next level of appreciation and love of one another. You too play a part in creating the vibrational energy of this planet. What do you want to contribute to that energy? Spend a little time today contemplating these messages from the tarot and integrating some Pisces New Moon energy into your life:

Linestrider Tarot

Linestrider Tarot:     X of Wands,    V of Wands,    II of Pentacles

What will help me bring my personal energy into alignment with the high vibration of my dream life?  Ten of Wands
There is a careful combination of effort and flow embodied in the X of Wands. At first it may seem like raising your vibrational energy takes a lot of energy. Yet, something about it is also somehow effortless. The energy of a 10 card in the tarot is one of transition. You have reached completion with the 9 but you haven’t quit gotten to a new cycle with the 1. You are in between and you have a decision to make. Are you going to level up, taking your vibration to the next level? Or are you going to stay at the status quo? The X of Wands reminds you that by laying down your burdens, leaving behind what no longer serves you, are you better able to raise yourself up. Think of making your heart light as a feather. You can’t carry around unnecessary past hurts, regrets, failures, and mistakes if you expect to become light as a feather.

Examine what you are holding onto and ask yourself the simple question of whether or not these commitments and projects, goals and opportunities light you up or whether they have grown dim and weak? Why hold onto ideas, tasks, and goals that you aren’t passionate about? Let me tell you that just because “You have gotten this far,” is not a reason to carry on. You get to decide your journey and what it means to follow through on that journey. If your path was leading somewhere but now branches off in a new direction, be content that this new direction in no way devalues where you have come from. Life works in mysteries ways and it’s best not to resist where your heart is leading you next.

How can I clear blockages in my emotional realm so that my vibration can be raised?
V of Wands reversed
This card is all about letting go of comparing yourself to others, FOMO, and creating unnecessary competition. Your greatest emotional goal is to love yourself. It is difficult to give yourself the love and appreciation you need to grow when you are mostly focused on what other people are doing. You gain nothing by thinking, “So-and-so is doing what I want to do and doing it better.” Only you can do you. By default that means no one can do it like you. So go do it! Go be you! Stop comparing yourself to the competition or even thinking that this is a competition. Life is not a competition. If you absolutely must think it terms of “winning” see if you can win at loving yourself the most, shining the brightest, creating whenever you get an idea or inspiration, and then loving what you created.

If you want to clear emotional blockages, your first step is to take your focus off the world around you and set that focus within. For a lot of people this is extremely difficult. We shy away from our feelings, from quiet time, from being still and going within. Maybe there is a way to ease into it for you though. Perhaps a long drive, journaling, meditating, cleaning the windows, yoga, long nature walks, a relaxing massage, cooking, running, mowing the yard, tightrope walking, etc could get you into the self-reflective mood. Bottom line is that you gotta make the time for yourself. It’s imperative. Look within and remind yourself over and over and over again, for as long as it takes to sink in, that you do not need to struggle or compete against other people. You do not need to fear you are missing out when in fact you’re just comparing yourself to someone else. You are doing your life your way and that is the best way for you. Now repeat all of that again as many times as needed until you GET IT.

How can I show compassion and understanding for the world around me?
II of Pentacles
Let’s not just pay lip service to the idea of greater understanding and compassion for all humanity, while actually doing nothing to engender that goal. The II of Pentacles reversed says that maybe you mean well, but you’ve got a lot of other things going on in your life and never really find time for world peace. Okay, don’t feel like I’m judging or criticizing. We all live busy lives and this reading is as much for me as for you, so I’m included in this little rebuke. Even if you’re busy, you can insert compassion and love into your busy everyday. Complete your tasks with grace. Be immersed in what you are doing. Be present. Bring joy into your actions, especially when you find yourself mechanically repeating a process you have done many times before. The dishes always need to get washed, but what about finding the simple satisfaction in the washing. Don’t let your mind wander to what you will do after the dishes or what you did last week, but instead be present in that moment of washing and find that you are content and at peace. That is the peace you want to bring to the world. It is a singular focus on what is good right now. When we pay attention to the now, to everything we have to be grateful for, and all the details that make life wonderful and magical (and I’m including the dishes in that magic!), we easily raise the vibration of the planet.

Quickly remember a time when you were just brooding on hurt feelings or having a pretend conversation where you finally found the perfect abusive words to tell someone off who had wronged you. These types of negative energy don’t raise your vibration or the vibration of the planet. It’s okay to let go of insults and injuries. You can still keep the lessons and while releasing the pain. If you absolutely cannot stay in the moment and stay present, go to an imagined happy place! Imagine your perfect day, your perfect job, your perfect partner, etc. and run with that energy. You’ll find yourself in a much better mood and also may just happen to attract more positive vibes into your life through the practice. When we imagine a better world, a better life, and are infused with the hopeful and ecstatic energy of getting what we want, we easily raise the vibration of the ourselves and the planet.

The X of Wands Helps Focus Your Purpose

The suit of Wands is about inspiration and creativity. It is soul essence ready to burst into manifestation.  The number 10 is a turning point. It is between an ending and a beginning. With the X of Wands you find yourself overwhelmed by creative urges. There are so many paths to take, so many options, you have taken on too much. You are bursting with ideas, but you are also paralyzed by ideas. Can you possibly create all that you have the potential to create?  Can you do it all?

It’s great and wonderful to be an ideas person and be inspired but it’s not good when you never actually create. With the X of Wands you may see that you have all these amazing ideas and then you don’t act on any of them. Perhaps you even write them down and then thumb through your inspiration notebook thinking and thinking about starting off each and every project.  But there are too many!  You start nothing!  You just keep thinking about them all, and carrying them around.  You create all kinds of reasons why they are too hard, because they are too big and plentiful. Even divine inspiration can become a burden when you let it build up to the point of overwhelm.

So the X of Wands asks you to choose one path. It’s time to get back to the Ace of Wands and the purity of single intention. It’s time to put aside some of those ideas of yours and refocus. Put everything else aside for now. Try and fend off your other ideas or work them into a grand scheme that you are already plowing away one. When new ideas crop up  tell them, “Hello, great idea, I may have time and space for you when I finish the great idea that I’m already on.” Then totally forget about that other idea. You need to focus. You need to take it one step at a time. Everything else can wait.

Don’t worry about your inspiration being too big or hard. For example, if you want to record an album, you need to first learn how to play an instrument or how to sing. Then you need to learn how to write songs, then find a way to record an album, and then release it. Don’t just sit around and think about your dream and never even learn how to make music!  Who cares if it’s a huge goal. Who cares if it takes forever. What else are you doing? What does it matter if you spend your whole life working towards your dream? Wouldn’t that actually be a beautiful way to live? Treat your goals like a prize instead of burden and you will transform the intense energy of the X of Wands into the fresh spring of inspiration with the Ace of Wands. Allow this cycle to turn into a new beginning.

X of Wands reversed:

The reversed X of Wands can signal that you are succeeding in focusing your creativity. You are realizing that of all your great ideas there is one that you want to pursue the most. You are putting aside all your myriad worries and doubts about your goal.  You are ready to stop guilt tripping yourself about the ones that have to wait or need to be discarded. The feeling of being overwhelmed or burdened by inspiration is starting to fade in the face of your new concentration. If you draw the X of Wands reversed in a past position, or current energy position, this is probably what you are encountering. You are letting the options fade into the past and picking one path for yourself now.

On the other hand, a reversed X of Wands reversed in a future card position could indicate in a reading that you are still blocked or refusing to narrow your focus. You have buried your head in the sand and will never do anything. All ideas are abandoned, you get a job at a gas station, and you spend the rest of your nights watching TV. No more dreams, no more ambition, no more creativity. Okay, hopefully it’s not such a dire situation that you won’t snap out of it now that you are aware of your stagnation.  The X of Wands reversed pops up as a reminder to get going, to not give up, to realize that you have a great idea inside of you that you long to pursue. Now is the time, go and get it! Here is the gentle reminder that you are a creative person, that you are inspired, that there is something special and unique that only you can bring into this world. Make it with your authentic soul essence and it will be truly an original creation from your heart.

New Moon Reading for February 18th, 2015

Another moon cycle comes to a close and so another begins!  This New Moon in air sign Aquarius will be occurring tonight February 18th, 2015.  This is the second New Moon in Aquarius in a row, so we get a second chance to super charge our unique, intellectual ideas, especially those focusing on the group and the greater good of humanity. The moon will be heading into Pisces shortly though, so there is a dreamy quality to this New Moon which allows us to expand our vision into a magical land of possibility.  This is an excellent time to set a couple of intentions or goals for the coming four weeks. Working with this short energy cycle of the moon can help you get in touch with your own inner four week energy cycles, and manifest smaller parts of your overall year goals.  Today I asked the tarot cards for advice for all of us on setting our intentions now at the Aquarius New Moon. Enjoy and best of luck with making progress on your goals in the next four weeks!

What energy will help you:  IX of Swords reversed
It is time to release and let go of anxiety. The best advice on moving forward is to set aside doubts, worries, anguish, and anxieties. These types of emotions do not serve to aid you in any way toward your intentions. Especially if you consider yourself a worry wart, now is the time to stop identifying yourself with your constant mental script of what ifs and negative outcomes. Open yourself up to positivity, to the idea that you can accomplish your goals, that nothing is going to get in your way, and anything that tries to get in your way will be integrated into your plan. I know, it can be incredibly difficult to let go of doubt and anxiety.  These can become ingrained patterns. Try performing a ritual to release negativity. Write down all your negative thoughts and emotions on a piece of paper and then destroy that paper.  If you can safely burn it, I would recommend putting your doubts to the fire of your passions and letting all of your positive, creative energy reduce your worry to ashes.

What will hinder your intentions now:  X of Wands
Feeling burdened by all your goals will hinder you in working toward any of them effectively.  Perhaps you are overwhelmed with all of the projects, goals, and intentions you want to set. It’s time to narrow it down! Focus on what really lights you up at this time and let the other goals go for now.  I know it can be hard to not follow through on every good idea you have, but if you are generating more ideas than you have the ability to take on at this time, your overwhelm is not helping the situation. Overwhelm causes inertia and that’s what those doubts and anxieties creep back in and stop your progress. Write down each vision you have for creativity and keep those pages handy to remind you that you can always pick those other ideas back up later when the time is right. Now with a clear mind you will then have so much more energy and drive to work on the smaller, manageable goals that you are really pumped about right now.

What to expect in the coming month:  IX of Wands
Determination and stamina are on your side in the coming moon cycle. All that energy around your amazing projects and intentions that we see in the last card, X of Wands, is going to give you the drive to continue on and make great progress this month. Once you narrow down your focus to one or two intentions to accomplish this month, the IX of Wands says that nothing can stop you from keeping on toward you goal. Remember to break your huge goals for the whole year or for your whole life! into smaller increments that you can take on in shorter cycles. A four week moon cycle is perfect for this. Take some time tonight to release old anxieties, reflect on the bigger picture of your soul purpose, and then ask yourself what you are passionate about creating right now.  The Wands want you to express that creativity this coming month, working tirelessly toward that vision you have swelling inside of you at this time.  Reach toward the dark moon tonight and encourage yourself to have the will be successful right now!  You are already perfect, you can only add to that!

Blessed New Moon!  I hope you let these insightful messages from the tarot help to guide you in the coming moon cycle starting tonight.  If you would like to share your own experiences, New Moon wishes, or order a personalized New Moon reading, please get in touch at thewillowpathtarot@gmail.com!

Tarot at the MFA

MFA Boston

Linde Family Wing of Contemporary Art
MFA Boston

Last week I took a little trip to the Museum of Fine Art in Boston.  I love to go to art museums, although I steer clear of reading the descriptions of the art usually because they can sound so snobby, affected, and irrelevant to my enjoyment of the art.  Instead I saw tarot tarot everywhere!  Ever since I started up an Instagram account for The Willow Path Tarot, I’ve had my eye out for things I see around me that remind me of the tarot cards.  This is a great way for me to practice tarot card meanings, help me be more observant of the world around me, and also to creatively connect my love of tarot and photography. Hobbies fused!  Anyway, as I wandered around the MFA I took some photos of works of art that resonated with me and thought about with which tarot card I would connect that feeling and image.

Above you will see the work of art that struck me immediately as The Fool.  Unfortunately, I didn’t find out the artists name, or the name of the piece (a hazard of not reading the plaque!), so sorry super talented artist if you see this and feel unrepresented. I’m happy to credit this if someone knows who did it!  Anyway, a long hallway stretching from one end of the museum to the other had many of these free flying figures, taking the leap of faith on their journeys.  The Fool is one of my favorite cards, and this was the first piece of art that really jumped out and me and said:  “The tarot is also artwork based on human archetypes, therefore won’t it be possibly to relate all the art in this museum to a tarot card?”  Isn’t that the very nature of art- to reflect, question, and explain the human archetypes?  Would I find any work of art in this museum that did not relate to a tarot card?  If I did, would that mean that there are essential cards missing from the tarot?  I have heard of some decks with an added card for The Artist. How is this archetype different from say, The Magician?

I was also drawn to this rainbow piece of art.  It made me think of the happiness and contentment of the X of Cups or The Sun.  Notice the line on the floor in front of the painting- this is as close as you are supposed to get before a little alarm goes off warning you that you are too close to the painting.  I was surprised at how often the alarm sounded throughout this exhibit in the Linde Family Gallery of Contemporary Art.  It seems many people needed to get super close to inspect the art.  Even a painting that is seemingly as straightforward as these blocks of color can still lure people to get a closer look.  The ability to touch and play with the tarot cards makes a tarot reading a tangible, hands on experience of art.  I love the feeling of shuffling a tarot deck between my fingers and I usually encourage my tarot clients to touch and interact with the cards.  I think this lends intention and intuition into a reading that can bring the reading to a deeper level.

One more piece of art from the exhibit, and then I’ll be done talking about art for today :). This piece on the left was truly captivating to me.  The never ending illusion of glass containers stretching back into eternity reminded me immediately of the VII of Cups. These vessels could hold limitless opportunities, but which of them are real and which of them are illusions? This also brought to mind the X of Wands, feeling overwhelmed and burdened, not being able to see your way through to an easier, less busy time.  Then the IX of Swords popped into my mind- anxiety!  Hopefully I don’t wake up in the night unable to shake the stress and worry over all those endless bottles, containing all those endless possibilities and challenges.

Lime Green Icicle Tower, Dale Chihuly

Ok, I lied- one more photo to close out the post. I loved the Chihuly exhibit when it came to the MFA a couple of years ago and am so glad they were able to hang onto this giant green tree guy.  What could better represent a passionate, creative spark than this tower of glass?  It is the Ace of Wands through and through.  I hope this post inspires you to open your eyes to the archetypes of tarot around you.  Each of our experience of life is connected, intertwined, combined, and co-created to contribute to one big human experience.  Creating and appreciating art are great ways to tap into that shared energy within and around us.
