Nourishing Our Wholeness with the New Moon in Cancer, July 12th, 2018

Another New Moon is upon us, and this one falls in the sign of Cancer. Cancer brings to the foreground the home, family, motherhood, security, emotions, food, the past/ancestors, and nourishing our very souls. The sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so every year’s New Moon in Cancer is a powerful time to set intentions for new beginnings in these areas, but this year’s New Moon is even more potent as it also involves a partial solar eclipse. An eclipse, in traditional astrology, is a time of change and new beginnings. This heightened energy for change means that the moves we make now towards creating the amazing lives of our dreams are much more likely to have long term effects. Take some time today to reflect on the changes you would like to make to your home, your relationships, your sense of safety and support in the world. You can use these questions to ask your tarot deck for guidance:

~How can I tap into and honor my deepest needs and feelings?
~What changes or new beginnings will best support my home and family life?
~What changes or new beginnings will create security and foundation in my life?
~How can I best nourish and care for myself and those I love?
~What aspects of my past do I need to process and then let go of?
~What aspects of my past serve me well now and into the future?
~How can I set boundaries within my family so I have the space and love to grow?
~How can I be more empathetic?
~Where do I need to foster more love and connection in my life?
~What adds to my sense of safety and security in the world?

Below is a tarot reading I did for us all, offering us guidance at this New Moon time. I didn’t ask any specific question, besides that Cancer give us a message for the moon cycle ahead. I drew one card from three different decks just for fun! It’s interesting to see how meaning can be combined across types of deck:

Mary-el Tarot 6 of Disks, Animal Spirits Knowledge Cards Rabbit, Lunar Nomad Oracle #28 Man

Let me start with Rabbit from the Animal Spirits Knowledge cards, our animal spirit guide for the month ahead. Rabbit is a lunar feminine energy, with many cultures actually seeing a rabbit on the face of the Moon in the sky overhead. The Rabbit guides us through the lunar energy of Cancer season with sensitivity, intuition, empathy, and warmth. Imagine measuring life with the Moon, how would we mark the months, the seasons, time itself. Rabbit as the Moon holds great power to demarcate the cycles of our lives, creating familiarity and patterns in a chaotic world. Many may not notice consciously the cycles of the moon, but the Moon revels in the subconscious anyway. She is a part of us, a constant, a pattern buried deep within us of light and dark even throughout the night. The Rabbit reminds us in the month ahead to appreciate cycles, take comfort in constants, celebrate our shadows, and own the personal power we hold deep inside.

The 6 of Disks in the Mary-el Tarot shows the angel Gabriel in both masculine and feminine form, representing the duality and non-binary aspect of the divine. This divinity is within us all. We each hold the outward, masculine, doing energy as well as the inward, feminine, being energy. Gabriel is the “Strength of God”, she is the messenger who tells us all that we can manifest whatever it is we came here to do. We have that power. We are each on an individual mission, a plan, a life with a purpose and we were born with everything we need to manifest that meaning. Yes, you were born with divine gifts, you are one with your higher self, you are a holistic being. Still the manifestation of your gifts requires your effort, your commitment, your blood, sweat, and tears. Never fear that it isn’t worth it, that it isn’t working, that you will fail. Do not doubt. Put in the work and earn your rewards. You are wholly capable and deserving.

The Man from the Lunar Nomad Oracle card strikes me in it’s imagery so reminiscent of the traditional Strength card of the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck. On Strength we see a woman with a lion, whereas on this oracle card we see a man and a lion. Generally, Strength is thought of as a feminine energy with it’s counterpart, The Chariot, representing masculine energy. Once again, as with the 6 of Disks, with The Man we are confronted by the duality within each of us, our ability to hold simultaneously both masculine and feminine energy. Subduing the lion, harnessing and pacifying that energy is a beautiful and courageous thing to do. At other times we need to provoke the lion within us, take action, be brave and daring. This melds perfectly with the 6 of Disk’s message to internally believe we are strong and capable and to USE that belief by acting out our passions and intentions. The Man gives us the impetus, the will to go for it!

There is so much we can manifest in this life. There is so much we are capable of doing. The key is to believe deeply in ourselves. We need to believe in our personal power, our ability to do great things, our meaning and purpose in this lifetime. We also need to take risks, to act, to work hard at what we want to be, create, and do. These are not two sides of the same coin, they are simply us, our wholeness. We don’t have to be this and then that, we can be everything all at once. That is connecting to the higher self, the divinity within us that doesn’t take sides, doesn’t differentiate, but simply allows it all to be present right now. Be fully present in the now at this New Moon in Cancer!

There you have it, another beautiful New Moon reading for you all. I hope you enjoyed it! If you would like a personalized New Moon reading, please get in touch. I’m available for email readings and in-person readings in the Nashville, TN area.

Tarot Blog Hop: The Knight of Cups Sings His Heart Out

PREVIOUS BLOG | MASTER LIST | NEXT BLOG

Welcome to the Summer Solstice edition of the Tarot Blog Hop! I hope you are enjoying the longest day of the year if you too find yourself in the Northern Hemisphere. I love me some long summer nights, even though it actually doesn’t stay light out that late where I live in Tennessee since we’re right on the edge of Central Time. It’s all good! Someday I’d love to spend the Summer Solstice in Alaska or northern Norway to see the sun stay up, up, up above the horizon for days at a time. #goals!

To me, “The Things I Regret” is so the theme song for the Knight of Cups. First off, it has a jaunty beat that reminds me of the pace at which the Knight of Cups would ride his horse. It’s not too fast, not to slow, but constantly moving. It feels like a spirited trot, constantly seeking, constantly exploring, constantly idealizing. You can feel the movement and action and determination of the Knight energy in the music and in the voice of Brandi Carlile as she sings in her ever so earnest way.

Then come the lyrics which are all about love, longing, open-heartedness, romantic ideals dashed, heartbreak, and soul searching. The lyrics speak to me of the push and pull of the emotional landscape of the Knight of Cups. Love is the key to the deepest happiness but it is also the easiest way to fall into the blackest of despair. Love is destined, it is out of our hands, but it is also all our fault when it unravels. Love will set you free but it will also keep you trapped in an endless loop of doubts and regrets. Love is the only thing worth living for but it makes love unspeakable hard.

Here are the lyrics for you to read through so you can see what I’m talking about:

Knight of Cups
Rider Waite Smith deck

There’s a hole in my pocket where my dreams fell through,
From a sidewalk in the city to the avenue
There’s a leak in my dam ‘bout the size of a pin,
And I can’t quite remember where the water’s getting in

But when you’re wearing on your sleeve,
All the things you regret,
You can only remember what you want to forget
You feel it tugging at your heart,
Like the stars overhead,
‘Til you rest your bones on the killing bed

Let them roll over me.
Let them roll over me,
When I doubt you
Let them roll over me.
Let them roll over me,
When I doubt you

Knight of Cups
Shadowscapes Tarot

With the weight of the world resting on my back,
And the road on which I’ve traveled is as long as it is cracked
But I keep pressing forward with my feet to the ground,
For a heart that is broken makes a beautiful sound

But when you’re wearing on your sleeve,
All the things you regret,
You can only remember what you want to forget

Let them roll over me
Let them roll over me,
When I doubt you.
Let them roll over me
Let them roll over me,
When I doubt you

Knight of Cups
Linestrider Tarot

I walk through my days like a ghost in a dream,
But the field carries on and my past follows me
It’s hard moving on from the things you done wrong,
When they play in your head like an old fashioned song

But when you’re wearing on your sleeve,
All the things you regret,
You can only remember what you want to forget

Lonely miles,
Without you

Lonely miles,
Without youLet the ground keep my bones
Let the water be my home
Let the dust hold my soul,
                                                              Like a holy rolling stone

You’ll notice there are quite a few references to water in this song, which reminds me of the suit of Cups representing the Water element. The water is his home and his emotions are a leaky dam. There is so much emotion and water in here, and it isn’t the kind of mature, self-assured emotions you would expect from a Queen of a King. It also isn’t that fresh and trusting emotional naiveté of a Page. Here we are somewhere in the middle of learning about love and feelings and getting our hearts trampled but also not being the best of partners. We all can relate to these growing pains, hopefully learning from our mistakes and responding differently next time we experience challenges.

There is hope in the Knight of Cups. He will “keep pressing forward with my feet to the ground” even though it’s lonely and miserable, disorienting and seemingly endless work. That’s life! That’s love! There’s not much we can do about it but keep trying. Through it all is a sense of the deep beauty of love, “for a heart that is broken, makes a beautiful sound.” That is just the kind of romantic language that the Knight of Cups would spout out to a friend over a few drinks at the bar. That friend is probably a songwriter who will turn that heartache into something as beautiful as this song.

Okay, that’s enough of my song analysis 🙂 I hope you are enjoying the Tarot Blog Hop and hop along to the next post, or go backwards, it’s all in the fun of the thing!  Happy Summer Solstice!!

Learning and Integrating with the New Moon in Gemini, June 13, 2018

Happy New Moon in Gemini! As we start off another cycle with the Moon, this time we are given the airy, communicative energy of Gemini to guide us through the next four weeks. Gemini rules over the realm of the mind, so this month I thought I would help us connect our mind to our intuitive side by using the Mary-el Tarot deck for our moon reading. Whoa, this deck always blows me away with its depth. It takes me to another realm of the subconscious and intuitive realm more than any other tarot deck that I use. For this reason, I have refrained from doing readings for other people with this deck. I rely heavily upon the book that Marie White includes with her deck and love delving into the esoteric ideas that she communicates therein. Gemini energy loves to communicate lessons so this month I’m exploring what we can learn and how we can use those lessons in the coming month ahead. Enjoy!

Mary-El Tarot deck

What lessons can I learn during the Gemini moon cycle?- Queen of Wands
This Queen is a master of her internal fire energy. She carries a light that shines brightly in all the darkest corners of her inner world. This light illuminates that which wants to remain hidden- the true self. It can be scary and difficult to face our true self. We want to hide, we want to show up as society would have us be, we want to be “normal.” Yet, each of us is unique and incredible, fierce and bright, strong and capable. The Queen of Wands asks you to learn the lesson of self-confidence, of self-reliance, and of self-love. She wants you to hold up a mirror and look at your true self and see yourself as a gift, as perfect, as the miracle that you are incarnate. She fills this act with warmth and kindness, using her inner fire to make you feel secure and safe revealing yourself. At this Gemini New Moon, you can learn about the potential that you hold within you. You can learn to be self-assured and luminous like the Queen of Wands.

Mary-El Tarot deck

How can I integrate this lesson into my experience?- The Moon
There is something mysterious and unknowable about this process of self-realization and self-actualization. Where does your “yourness” reside? What makes you “you”? Why can’t you transform into someone else? Your only option is to come more fully into yourself, to be more authentic, to be more confident, to be more you. The Moon asks you to use your intuition and explore the area of your subconscious in order to access your inner Queen of Wands. The Moon is your secret place, your inner realm, your hidden side that you want to keep away from the world. It’s your dark side of the moon, never brought into the light. What purpose does all the secrecy serve? This Gemini moon cycle asks you to reveal yourself, to go within, shine a light, and emerge from that darkest of places in order to show up in this lifetime. You cannot show up for your life and really experience it when you are expending so much energy hiding your true self. Use the light of the Moon, the energy of the Moon, the intuition of the moon, to allow yourself to become more fuller yourself during this cycle.

Mary-El Tarot deck

What secret does Gemini have to share with me now?- 8 of Discs
In this card we see an image of the binary world, of two sides coming together, of the Twins of Gemini standing together but never touching. In the space between these two pillars of energy there is an innocent and pure lamb. This lamb represents you. It represents your ability to be more than one thing, to have more than one side, to be multi-faceted, and exist in the space between. The space between is balance, it is truth, and it is honest. This space is also light and airy, just like Gemini. It isn’t heavy or dark, but free and transformational. You can exist in a lighter and freer space when you give up the cultural mandate to pick sides, to see things in black and white, or to choose either/or. What if you chose both? This Gemini New Moon is an opportunity to explore the riddle of what exists outside of opposites, or what happens when you don’t take sides, and how you can choose more than one option if you use your creativity.

I hope you enjoyed this tarot reading for the New Moon in Gemini. I hope it generates a desire to do some deep thinking. Gemini energy is great for thinking! Use all those brilliant thoughts to explore something totally irrational, like intuition. This world we live in is not as black and white and binary as we have come to accept. Accept nothing! Question everything! That will make for an interesting month ahead with the powerful insight and creativity of Gemini on your side.

A Beautiful New Moon in Taurus Reading for May 15, 2018

Happy New Moon in Taurus! This sensual Earth sign asks you to set intentions for the month ahead that focus on the beauty of your body, your home, your physical environment, and your financial picture. It is a great time to get practical, but also a peaceful moment to connect with your inner desires and align your emotions, thoughts and action with the aim of meeting your needs. It’s an interesting time right now, as Uranus, the planet of breakdowns and breakthroughs is also transitioning signs on this day, moving from Aries into Taurus as well. Uranus hasn’t been in Taurus since 1942, so for most of us, this will be a never before experienced planetary energy. Uranus is an awakening, a new consciousness brought to a specific area of your life, and the next seven years will have us all exploring Uranus in Taurus. This is a new understanding of how we relate to our bodies, our planet, and the ideas of stability and security. I recommend reading this little May horoscope write up, if you’re interested in more astrology talk at this time.

For now, let’s get back to our New Moon in Taurus reading for today. Here’s some advice and guidance from the tarot for your moonth ahead:

Linestrider Tarot:  V of Wands, King of Cups reversed, King of Swords

What does my body need to thrive in the month ahead?- V of Wands
You’re confronting much tension and conflict when it comes to how you want to treat your body right now. Sometimes you strive to be super active and healthy, and other times you just want to be a total coach potato. This back and forth, highs and lows of energy, is not your long term goal. In order to best serve your body, look for ways to make a more sustainable healthy lifestyle change. Oftentimes, we set ourselves up for failure when we say we’re going to go to the gym 5 times a week right out of the gate. What if you set your goal for something that actually fits into your schedule, like once a week at first? You can then build in more days (if you want to), as working out becomes a more natural part of your life. You don’t have to make a radical change overnight. Developing habits little by little means that they are more likely to stick as you integrate small wins into your life. It might look like nothing or too slow at first, but take a step back and try to look at it over the grand scheme of your entire life. Say it takes you a year to develop the habit of working out three times a week- that’s great! Now you have a healthy habit to use for the next 50 years and it only took you one year to make that habit!

The V of Wands can also indicate that your body wants to participate in some healthy competition. Maybe it’s time to join a sports group that plays together a couple times a week. Or perhaps a fitness challenge of some sort is called for, a 30 day yoga challenge or sugar detox could be great fun for your competitive spirit in the month ahead. There is a great positivity for change right now, and doing something that you are enthusiastic about will certainly help the transition go more to your liking. The important thing to focus on is de-stressing. Any activity you engage in to help your body is something that should have the aim of lessing the conflict and tension in your life. If sports are not your jam, maybe a 30 day meditation challenge could be the answer. Challenge yourself to sit for 10 minutes of meditation a day and see how this can help diminish your stress as the month goes by.

How can I invite more beauty into my life?- King of Cups reversed
There is a great opportunity now to delve deeply into your emotional world and feel the beauty in your life. This act of looking for beauty within yourself is not the norm, as you so often are looking for beauty all around you instead of inside. This inward focus might have you feeling moody and emotionally volatile until you accept that your emotions are valid and true for you. No comparisons! No reproaching yourself for feeling like you aren’t normal, that you don’t fit some stereotypes of what human beauty is, especially in your physical form. Your body is your perfect vessel, so trying to change it and treating it like shit, are not the best avenues for honoring yourself. Even if there are a million things you hate about your body, focusing exclusively on the negative isn’t going to help you make the changes you want to see if your form. If self deprecation and loathing were the answers, you would be totally perfect and beautiful by now, right?

Your feelings about yourself extend beyond just your perceptions of your body, including how you think of yourself emotionally and mentally. It is so common to hear people berate themselves for mistakes and for not living up to impossible standards. We treat ourselves terribly, saying mean things that we would never say to our worst enemies. The King of Cups reversed asks you take a pause before you evaluate yourself and then come at the situation with the truth, with compassion, and with integrity. You are doing your best. You are learning and growing. You are beautiful just the way you are. You’re also changing, we’re all changing all the time, and what is coming next can be a revelation of the beauty within yourself.

What abundance is entering my life this month?- King of Swords
We don’t always have an appreciation or gratitude for the abundance that enters our lives. We are so focused on manifesting a specific outcome, that we miss the amazing opportunities and lessons that come in an unrelated part of our lives. This month the spotlight on emotions and the body can really benefit from an analytical and logical gaze. What are the facts? What are the truths? What do you know? Use that. Use your knowledge, use your brain, use your sense of what is just and fair. There is a mental clarity and higher understanding possible in the month ahead, so be sure to get into your thinking mind and do some exploration of what you know at this time.

Since your emotions are a bit out of control and you’re feeling tense and conflicted, the King of Swords can really help you be firm and fair with yourself. When you start down a rabbit hole of berating or demeaning yourself, step back and ask yourself what the King of Swords would think of the situation. This is an energy that is stern, firm, fair, and authoritative. He takes the facts at hand and judges them without condescending, “So you didn’t accomplish your goal. Okay, you lacked the time and the skills do reach that goal. The solution is not to go into despair and hate yourself. The solution is to give yourself more time and to learn the necessary skills. Now go do that.” The King of Swords encourages you to make a concrete action plan, a logical step by step guide to how you are going to do your tasks. If you’re not capable of seeing the steps you need to take, find a King of Swords to help you, a mentor, teacher, counselor, or advisor. You’ll know whether your have the King of Swords energy within you or if you need to look to another person who has that energy to help you out. Either way, logic and reason will be abundant and useful in the coming month.

I hope you enjoyed this New Moon in Taurus reading for May 15th, 2018. I’m looking forward to the energy of the month ahead and definitely want to take the tarot’s advice to set a challenge to ease the tension in my life. I already meditate often, but a 30 days in a row challenge, no ifs, ands, or buts, sounds right up my alley!

Reflections on the Archetype of Strength

I picked Strength as my word of the year for 2018. It is more than just a word to me though, it is a whole archetype. It contains so much more than just one word or idea. Today, I’m going to write a little bit about what I think Strength means, how I’m working with it this year, and how you too can draw on the energy of Strength when you need a boost of energy, confidence, and stamina.

Shadowscapes Tarot

First and foremost, working with Strength for me is about building confidence. Strength is an energy that you can channel to prop yourself up when you need confidence, courage, and stamina. I know I often need more of that type of energy in my life. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted. Calling on Strength reminds me that I have deep reserves of inner fortitude, and that I can endure my challenges. In fact, I can do more than endure my challenges, I can blossom, grow, and build myself up throughout the process of confronting obstacles, roadblocks, and setbacks in my path.

Strength is also about perseverance and fortitude. It is the ability to just keep going even when I am worn out, struggling, or just plain tired to the bone. I have deep reserves of energy meant specifically for the areas of my life that are most important to me. If I really want something, if it really lights me up inside and gives me purpose, I will find a way to make myself keep going and strive. It’s easy to pinpoint the things that aren’t part of my life purpose, because there is just no energy or perseverance for completing them. When I don’t follow through on these things, I don’t feel deeply unsatisfied and disappointed. When something doesn’t get done and it doesn’t show up again at another time for a second chance at tackling it, it just wasn’t part of my ultimate path.

Strength means I don’t give up when things get tough, instead I dig deep and I find deeper answers and meaning because of that struggle and exhaustion. We are all trying to avoid pain and suffering, isn’t that only natural? But what else is natural is the meaning and purpose we derive from pushing through and doing the hard and difficult things that make us so uncomfortable. It’s in the pain and discomfort and feat that the story of purpose unfolds. When we are channeling Strength it’s easier to hear those messages of meaning. When we  ask Strength for assistance on something that doesn’t actually resonate with our soul purpose, Strength just kind of ignores us and no surge of endurance emerges to allow us to keep going. Working with Strength is working with our intuition.

Sometimes we do breakdown though. Sometimes we reach exhaustion, we fail, we shut down, we go into overdrive and burn out. In that moment, there is also a profound connection to Strength. Life tests us in excruciating ways simply to connect us to that extraordinary Strength we each hold within ourselves. It’s painful but it’s not wrong and we don’t have to suffer through it. We can lean into the pain, wrapped in the knowledge of our Strength, knowing we’ll pull through. This isn’t the end, it is simply a resting point.

Strength is not brute forth, it is endurance, it is the long run, it creates energy even as we are on our last legs, propelling us just a few steps farther. Strength is the tortoise, not the hare. Strength may even appear to crumple or stop or stagnate but she is just resting, and the resting point is crucial and beautiful. There is a subtle growth in the rest that indicates almost inpercetible continuation of movement. You can still feel that movement within you if you tune into that enduring vibration of Strength that is always pulsing in your center.

The Wild Unknown Tarot

Strength is also about control, aware of creating her life in collaboration with Fate. Fate is not running the show, but rather works in harmony with our shifting interpretations and perceptions of our reality. Strength allows you to be conscious and awake to the reactions you have to Fate. You can decide how you interpret and live in life’s troubles and problems. Strength allows you to choose your own reality, to decide how to react to the world around you. When life gives you lemons, do you make lemonade? Do you look for the silver lining? Do you treat misfortune as an opportunity to learn something, a lesson buried within? Strength allows you to entertain the prospect that everything happens for a reason. She also allows you to accept that you’ll probably never know that reason and just have to believe and have faith.

Strength is acceptance but she is also your internal badass who totally has your back, massaging your shoulders in the corner of the ring, “Now go out there and fight!” Most of the fight is just against yourself, the little voice of doubt in your head, “You are bad at this. You have nothing to offer. No one will understand you. People will misunderstand, misinterpret, and twist your words and then BLAME you for their mistakes. You will cause mistakes. You are not good enough.” Blah, blah, blah! That little voice could go on for days but Strength is the angel on your shoulder whispering that, “You are good enough. You are worthy. Your uniqueness is a gift. You can grow. You are ready. We are all one. People want to hear from you. You can do it.” She is really good at being the cheerleader and being the coach.

I have many more things I could say about Strength, but that is going to be all for today 🙂 I hope you connect deeply with your inner Strength whenever you need it! Did you pick a word of the year? Care to share?

Tarot Blog Hop: Teaching Connection through Tarot

PREVIOUS BLOG | MASTER LIST | NEXT BLOG

Welcome to the Beltane Tarot Blog Hop! Beltane marks the beginning of summer, the waxing of the sun, the beauty of fertile Earth coming fully to life to nourish us all. It is just wonderfully beginning to get hot here in Nashville, which is a delight that it has held off this long. I’m so excited that you have hopped over to my blog and are (mildly) interested to read my response to this hop’s theme question: “What can I teach the world?” I’d like to teach the world the benefits of tarot.

The other day, an inquisitive person asked me, “How is a tarot reading useful?” I didn’t hesitate in my passionate answer, “The time of a tarot readings is a wonderful and needed opportunity to sit down, take a breathe, and think about your life. During this time you don’t have to do anything. You are taking stock of what happened in the past, what is currently happening in your life, and where it is all heading. You get a quiet period to contemplate your big picture and ask yourself, “Do I like how things are going? Do I want to alter my path? What choices can I make to create the life I desire?” This time spent consulting with your intuition can set you up to make big moves in a conscious direction.”

We all need that time to pause, even if we are cruising at full speed towards amazing results. The society I find myself a part of is all go, go, go! Even yoga has become a workout and time in the car is for massively consuming podcasts at 1.5x speed (I can’t handle either of those things, but I know that they are popular!) The time of a tarot reading opens up a space to slow down. All electronic devices can be shut off and put away. The analog, physical, and beautiful nature of the cards brings a sensual pleasure to a tarot reading. You can pick of the cards, you can look into your tarot readers eyes, you can take the opportunity to have a real, meaningful conversation.

Lately, I’ve become really interested in honest and open conversations about real life. Usually, I find myself having social interactions that are pretty superficial, discussing the weather, or TV shows, or what my dog is up to these days. There is a need within me, and one I see reflected in other people I meet under the right circumstances, to have deeper conversations. I want to talk about creativity, love, the meaning of life, and the mystery of the Universe. I want to talk about the emotional and mental patterns that have gotten us where we am now and the changes we would like to make to grow. I want to talk about the risks we are all taking to get out of our comfort zones, and what is guiding us through that risk taking process.

A tarot reading is a great time to have a conversation about what scary risks are being avoided or resisted. I enjoy reading so much, because it gives me an “excuse” to have a meaningful conversation with another human being, the type of conversation I always want to be having. The tarot cards gives us both something to focus on during that conversation to ease into what can be an awkward or scary opening up of the soul’s desires. Of course, the other magical part of the reading is the 2 cents that the Universe adds to a tarot reading. So often, the cards we draw reveal or uncover what part Fate is playing in life. The experience and reaction to that awareness of Fate can be life altering. It gives a chance to work with Fate, to make choices with the Universe in mind, to shape your own Destiny.

I hope you continue along the tarot blog hop to encounter the next wonderful teaching…

There is a freshness and a newness to your thoughts at this time that makes you want to just fly away with them and see where they take you. It’s almost guileless and innocent, this quest to figure things out and explore new concepts and constructs. You are willing to allow various updrafts and errant winds to push you hither and thither and can actually enjoy a measure of uncertainty when it comes to a final destination.

You have this conception that you are doing a good job of learning your lessons and can therefore integrate each piece of knowledge you accumulate into your life as you go. Each piece of the puzzle you uncover adds depth of understanding to your life. This process of learning and integrating is challenging but fun for you. As each new idea is fleshed out and processed and analyzed, you come into greater wisdom that you can apply to your life situation. It feels like your life is expanding and you can see a larger part of the whole.

It’s not all clear sailing though, as there are many things left to learn and clouds that will get in your way. You can’t quite see everything you want to see, and this inability to grasp the entire picture can be frustrating. There is a tension of impatience and wanting to get on with it already. The temptation to fly higher than you are ready to is tempting and can get you into situations which are way over your head at this point. It can be difficult to start where you are at, but that is really the only way to learn. There is no shame in not understanding or being able to do something that it has taken your teachers a long time to master. You can be the pupil now, you can let someone else be the master.

The Page of Swords loves to communicate. Now is a great time to write and speak more with the new people you meet. You can also start sharing your new ideas with people you already know, or decide to start communicating differently. Perhaps in the past you haven’t be very forthcoming or articulate when it comes to talking to other people about what is in or on your mind. This could be a great time to shake up that scenario and start to open yourself to sharing. This can also be applied to networking. Oftentimes, we need to get out fresh ideas in front of the right people at the right time. The Page of Swords energy boosts you up to express yourself and start talking up your ideas out in public.

Page of Swords reversed:
When you draw this card in the reversed orientation, it can show that you are feeling a bit closed off from possibility. You may even be falling into the trap of thinking that everything is impossible, you’re stuck, that there is no way forward. When you direct your energy inward with the Page of Swords reversed, you finds fault with logic and ways of thinking. You figure that since you does know one thing, than you can deduce nothing from your situation. When the Page of Swords reversed allows for nothing besides the idea that all thoughts are shallow, unformed, and wrong, you get quite down about the state of your mental affairs. You can’t move forward with the kind of openness and willingness to explore that is in your best interest at this time.

Right now, you think that you need to know more before you can take action. You have too much to learn and are overwhelmed with the process and the mountain of things you need to know before you will be “ready”. You think it’s desirable to stay in your comfort zone of what little you do know, and not take any risks to go out exploring. This is akin to a bird staying on the ground because it has never flown before. Remember that you have wings, remember that your brain is capable of learning so much more, remember that you have to jump and free fall before you can figure out the next step. That is your nature as a human. That is your reality. It’s imperative that you push yourself to try harder when you see the Page of Swords reversed in a reading. Your current mode is to stay safe, but not pushing yourself won’t get you to your goal.

The reversed Page of Swords may be a person in your life that you desperately want to help to take flight. She or he seems so stuck and you’re willing to take those necessary steps in order for her/him to grow. You’ll do the hard work in order to nurture and protect this gentle soul. That’s not how it works, though! Your special person has to do the work, has to make the effort, has to leave the old comfort zone. You can’t grow for someone else. You have to stand back and let that person learn and understand on his/her own terms and in his/her own time.
