Aries New Moon Lunar Eclipse

The eclipse is coming!! Batten down the hatches! Clear your schedule! Take cover!

Today we’re going to do a tarot reading for the collective for the New Moon in Aries which is also a lunar eclipse. It occurs on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at 6:58 AM eastern time. An Aries New Moon highlights personal plans, courage, independence, and self-assertion. A New Moon always signifies new beginnings, but when we have this one special New Moon of the year in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, we get a double whammy of new beginning vibes. Let’s see what the tarot advises when it comes to making that fresh start in our personal lives.

Ya’ll there are eclipses every six months, so no big deal, right? Then why do they seem to make a big impression every time they come around? Astrology be astrologying, am I right? It’s just the way the cosmic cycles of the universe work. We rotate around the Sun, the Moon rotates around us, and when we all happen to line up just right in the sky, that causes the curtain to go down on something and up on another thing. That’s how the solar system works, and that’s how eclipses affect us. At least, that’s my little explanation.

Have you noticed any shifts in your life recently? The eclipse on Saturday is the final one in a series of six eclipses on the Aries-Libra axis that have been happening since April of 2023. So this New Moon is a little more complex than just a new beginning, it is also an ending of sorts. In the coming six months before the next eclipse season which will have shifted to the Virgo-Pisces axis, we’re going to be finishing up a cycle related to Aries-Libra. Long-term changes regarding our personal power, sense of freedom and individuality, and our courage and willingness to thrive are in the works.

Here's a breakdown of the key dates within this cycle:

  • April 20, 2023: Solar Eclipse at 29° Aries (N. Node)

  • October 14, 2023: Solar Eclipse at 21° Libra (S. Node)

  • March 25, 2024: Lunar Eclipse at 5° Libra

  • April 8, 2024: Solar Eclipse at 19° Aries

  • October 2, 2024: Solar Eclipse at 10° Libra

  • March 29, 2025: Solar Eclipse at 9° Aries

  • March 14, 2025: Lunar Eclipse at 23° Virgo

  • July 18, 2023, through January 11, 2025: The lunar nodes cross the Aries-Libra axis, with the north node in Aries and the south node in Libra

Ok, now let’s ask the tarot for some advice for this New Moon in Aries. I love to do a simple three card tarot reading at each New Moon. I use this time to set intentions for the coming month (regardless of where in the month the New Moon falls). I center the tarot reading around the themes of the sign that the New Moon is in. This month, I’ll also pay attention to the influence of the eclipse and pull that into the interpretation of the tarot cards as well.

Okay! And the moment you’ve all been waiting for, here is a tarot reading for the collective for the New Moon in Aries. Use these interpretations for inspiration, motivation, and to set intentions for the month ahead. Take what resonates with you and leave the rest!

What new beginning are you ready to finally incorporate into your life for good now?- Queen of Cups

How can you access your courage to push yourself out of your comfort zone and make hard decisions? – King of Swords reversed

How do you need to express your personality and individuality now in order to thrive?-  Justice

Tarot cards from the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck: Queen of Cups, King of Swords reversed, and Justice

The first thing I noticed about the cards we drew for this reading, is that all of the figures in these cards are sitting on thrones. How very Aries! You are ready to rule your life. You are ready to take charge, be number one, own your authority. I think these figures on thrones are a very good sign that you’re ready to take charge of this Aries New Moon eclipse. Onward!

What new beginning are you ready to finally incorporate into your life for good now?- Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups has a calm energy. She is regal, steady, in control of her emotions. She has an emotional maturity brought on by deep exploration and acceptance of her emotional world. She has gone into the shadows, looked around, lived in those darkest places of the soul, and emerged with wisdom and appreciation of the human psyche. Her emotional intelligence allows her to be compassionate, intuitive, and deeply understanding of human emotions and motives. Perhaps you’ve been working to emulate this stability in your own life, to reach a place of calm acceptance. Aren’t we all striving for this? Don’t we all endeavor to be well-adapted and stable individuals, capable of expressing our emotions with sincerity and depth but also able to detach and let them go?

The Queen of Cups knows that emotions are important, that they point to vital messages that we need to hear. But she also knows that we are not our emotions, that emotions are fleeting, they say one thing at one minute and then move to a new position or outlook in the blink of an eye. The Queen of Cups knows how to experience emotions but not be consumed by them. This is your invitation at the Aries New Moon, to mature and grow as the Queen of Cups. You are ready to rule your emotions, to intuit what is important and follow it, but also to hold those emotions lightly as they are so ephemeral. You are called to level up your emotional intelligence. You are ready.

How can you access your courage to push yourself out of your comfort zone and make hard decisions? – King of Swords reversed

Don’t overthink it. There is a time to analyze and use your logical mind, but this isn’t it. To reiterate the message of the Queen of Cups, this is about intuition and sensing what needs to come next. A step-by-step drawn out plan is only going to get you so far. It is most likely to get you where you have already been. This is because step-by-step plans are based in the known, in what you have experienced before, in things you can foresee. What you need now is the unimaginable and you can’t make plans to reach a place that you can’t imagine.

To reach a place outside of the known, outside of your experience, you need to let go of control. The King of Swords is a master of control and handling the situation with tact and knowledge. Those are very admirable and useful traits in certain situations, but not this one. The message here with this card in reverse, is to release your tight grip or carefully laid plans and instead let a new path open that is unexplored and mysterious. This idea may excite you if you’re up for an adventure, or dismay you if you’re a person who likes to have a detailed action plan with lots of analysis and reasoning behind it. Either way, it’s the best path forward at this time. Release and let go of the known, get ready for an adventure.

Release takes courage, not logic. There is an element of surrender here, which doesn’t come naturally to a King. Surrender also takes courage. You are being asked to step out of the comfort of organization, logic, and reason. It might be scary out there, but you are brave. Heed that call.

How do you need to express your personality and individuality now in order to thrive?-  Justice

Justice asks us to be fair. Justice asks us to level the playing field. Justice asks us to do what is right, moral, and ethical. This is a big ask! On the world stage, especially in the USA right now, the idea of Justice is being turned on its head. The leader of our country is reinterpreting our constitution to mean something entirely different than has previously been agreed upon. What has been just, lawful, and legal is now in question. Here we see the energy of Aries asking a question on a larger scale- is it time to change what we consider justice in this country or is it time to take back control from the hands that would change it?

This is a personal question and one I hope you ask yourself at this time. What is right to you? Where does your moral compass point due north? What are your values? What are you willing to compromise and what is off the table? These questions are deeply personal and do not need to play out on the world stage. You can ask them of yourself quietly in your own space, but it is important that you ask them of yourself now with the Aries New Moon. The best way to express yourself as an individual is to know your own sense of right and wrong because the world may ask you to fight for those beliefs. Aries is an aggressive sign. It wants what it wants and thinks that it is right. Where are you going to dig in your heels and plant your flag? It’s time to make some choices and commit to what you know in your heart is right.

Ok, that was actually a pretty intense reading. It does feel like there is some pressure in the air right now, that big decisions need to be made, that we are at a turning point. If you need more guidance from the tarot, please feel free to get in touch for a reading soon. I will be traveling soon and readings will not be available between April 20th- May 20th, so get in touch soon if you’d like to book an online or email tarot reading before then.
