The Sun Soul Meditation
The next Soul Meditation I did along the Fool's Journey is card number XIX, The Sun. Who wouldn't look forward to meditating on the joyous Sun card?! It's like taking a break to relax and fully immerse yourself in warmth, sunshine, happiness, success and joy. So I actually put this one off for a while! It felt too happy! Until the other day I felt called to such a happy meditation ;) Yippee!
The scene I entered into when I stepped into the meditation on The Sun card was wondrously bright. The air was warm with a light breeze and a scent of grass and fresh flowers on the wind. A young girl rode on a white horse underneath a blazing sun, and when I examined her I found she was actually my niece, Aisy. The girl was giggling wildly and madly as she galloped around on her horse. She was clad all in colorful scarves and feathers, her hair a matt of light blonde interspersed with more feathers. Aisy had to ride fast in order to cause the large orange banner she held to stream out behind her, rippling in the wind. When Aisy noticed me she rode straight in my direction and greeted me as if she had been waiting a while for my appearance.
"Finally! There you are!," she cried. We smiled foolishly at each other, like two long lost friends content to drink in the sight of one another. That was when the great Sun above in the sky started to speak to me. Aisy too turned her gaze up at The Sun then, draping herself loosely over the back of the horse, arms dangling, her head leaning across the horses' neck. We both listened to The Sun with smiles lingering upon our lips.
The Sun was jolly. It spoke in a non-gendered voice, first female and then progressively deepening. The voice intoned a single word: "WARMTH!," repeating the word warmth in a beautiful procession of sounds. Slowly the word dissolved into the most heartfelt of belly laughs, deep and joyful. The Sun had no face, but the sound clearly emanated from above, glowing, beautiful, warm, and resonate. The Sun was huge in the sky, but we could still look straight upon it and be filled with wonder.
When The Sun finished its booming laughter, Aisy leapt from the horse into my arms for a happy embrace. She had a message to give me. The young girl told me to maintain and hold onto my childlike joy. Since I would bring no children into this world, to spread and continue my joy, I would have to do it myself. This was good and wonderful. I know how to enjoy life and this scene of happiness was easy, recognized, and comfortable to me. I can spread joy, I can hold peace in my heart, I can grasp all the possibilities of happiness.
Then we both mounted the horse and set off galloping across the meadow. Aisy was like a little monkey, climbing all over me and the horse, performing tricks and acrobatics. We rode into a sunflower patch that engulfed us, riding deeper and deeper into the towering flowers. We came to a halt in the midst the flowers and Aisy then gave me a gift. It was a small glowing sun in a galaxy. It was like a tiny but real diorama of the sun, a hologram of The Sun, but also completely real. This gift was to remind me of my oneness with the universe and the immateriality of space, but most importantly of perspective- it's all relative!. I could gaze upon this Sun representation and wonder which was real, my reality or its reality and hopefully realize that it didn't matter.
Aisy and I dismounted the horse onto the tops of the sunflowers, padding from flower to flower, gazing over the endless see of blossoming suns. It felt too good to stay. The Sun teaches joy. I know joy. The Sun teaches oneness. I want to bring joy to others. The Sun teaches warmth and positivity. We can embrace this by continuing to see the world through the eyes of a childhood innocence, in which anything is possible and magic is real. I left the meditation with a confidence and determination to proceed.
Something disturbed me about The Sun energy though. The depth of the card was endless, there was no bottom, end or opposite of joy. That state is not human, that realm is not for us. We can glimpse it here on Earth, we can appreciate it and cultivate it, but it is not why we are here. This Soul Meditation showed me how accessible and beautiful Sun energy is, but it is also just part of the process. We continue on the Fool's Journey, we start another cycle, always to return here and remember how blessed and wonderful life is, before we keep growing.
